No
Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
No
Brief description of the issue:
MSFS reinstalling ALL 170GB of Deluxe Game+content. Was working normally 2 days ago (post France update) AFTER removing Community mods. Came back tonight and MSFS is insisting on redownloading everything.
Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
I had all Deluxe content installed prior to this session.
Just checked the Folder size of (steamapps>common>MicrosoftFlightSimulator) and its ~40GB. The game is roughly 160+GB right?
Checked directories and cant find other MSFS files of substantial size.

Since last played:
-Steam>Verified Integrity of Game Files
-Installed FSEconomy
-Disabled Full Screen Optimizations
-Set to Run as Administrator

Redownloading/reinstalling the 170GB isn’t a big deal. But don’t want to end up with 2 independent installations. Maybe there’s something I’m not seeing?

Are you on the Steam or Microsoft Store version?
Steam
Did you submit this to Zendesk? If so, what is your ticket #?
No

The install path is in the app folder, for the store version:
xxx:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-151352786-3382688062-1993075629-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt

In Steam version this would be somewhere in the ‘\common’<MSFS> path

last line in UserCfg.opt is the root for the installation, any other is redundant:

InstalledPackagesPath "< drive >:\ < my install root folder > "

-Steam>Verified Integrity of Game Files

That’s the reason. When doing that, Steam resets your game to the files downloaded by Steam – which is basically just the MSFS installer front-end. So everything the MSFS installer downloaded was deleted as Steam considered it foreign.

Never ever verify integrity on MSFS.

Yup, that seems to be the most plausible explanation. I wish I knew that beforehand. Thank you for clarifying.

Gonna let it reinstall overnight and try again tomorrow.
Cheers!

It happened to me I guess! There is always a positive side to everything. I let my computer run overnight to finish downloading everything…btw there is going to be more to download in the sim (content manager). But the good news is:

  • sim launches faster even with the 1k files I have in my community folder.

  • CtD due to 3rd part content in Community folder is gone

Until my next CTD and other issues (always with MSFS), I am enjoying this update in VR👍🏽.
