I’m not seeing any rudder spikes, with AP on or off.
@aceridgey Is this in any particular plane or any you have tested?
When you say the rudder suddenly applies, have you observed the rudder deflect, or maybe the rudder pedals, specifically? The reason I ask is there is sometimes a dramatic shift in weather, and this can cause the AP to compensate almost immediately, causing your view to shift around. You can cause this to happen on demand if you like by switching between live weather, and any of the presets. If the different is dramatic enough you will see the plane lurch around.
Just finished a 2.5 hours flight and did not encounter any rudder issues.
I would suspect an issue with your key bindings.
Edit: Anyway more info would be helpful, which aircraft, weather settings and if it happens on AP when flying straight or maybe after a steep turn. Sometimes AP can begin chasing/oscilating, if your overall configuration is not ideal.
From the sounds of things I don’t think it’s the result of an unexpected key bind. Like “I just flipped the switch for the landing lights, and I’m suddenly full right rudder!”.
If they are on AP, not touching the controls, then I’m guessing a sudden, dramatic shift in weather.
