:warning: Reminder:

Performance seems ok so far. A couple of short flights around Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow in Taog’s Lama.

EFB is stuck on 1st January 1970 at 00:00:00. Only had the correct location at Stansted. It couldn’t decide where I was for the next two flights but showed me over the Philippines most of the time.

Restarted the Xbox X and loaded in at Stansted again. EFB time/date same issue. Location was correct though. Flew around for a few minutes then called up the weather dialog and started to change the time. CTD. Didn’t get a chance to try a second flight to see if the EFB location issue was still there.

Live Traffic observations:

  1. One labelled a/c in the legacy orange livery.
  2. One label with no a/c model.
  3. Label with no model remained visible with labels off.

Slight stutters (really stutters) all the way through the flight in external view. Not experienced in version .3 of the beta. Now experiencing AP disconnect and not able to reengage managed mode for heading or altitude.

Have tried the Beta over the past few days, still the same few things which are degrading the experience…I know there will be more than a few ! But currently spoiling the enjoyment for me are..

Tiles popping in when joining flight on runway..“Disco Floor” as I’ve seen it called.

World map very stuttering when trying to zoom to choose location for flights

Lots of stuttering around many Airports.

Seasons not correct everywhere.. certainly NZ seems wrong.

It is refreshing to see some decent liveries around at some of the bigger airports, however even Heathrow I only get the odd KLM and Easy Jet( not even sure they go there!) otherwise it is good to see different ranges of aircraft compared to 2020.

Still however my go to sim is 2020…it’s just solid and safe for me, if only it had decent ai models/liveries.

The one thing I’ve found to improve the stutters is to disable the realistic aircraft lights addon.

I’ll probably try to fly a bit more before I cast a vote but same as previous beta versions (and to be honest same as SU2), high up in the air it’s good although ground textures still non-existent thanks to the LOD sphere. But lower down and especially on the ground at an airport it just feels like a slideshow in any Airbus. Add ATC to the mix and it pretty much grinds to a halt

I’ve hardly touched 2024 since SU2 released and the SU16 beta came out for 2020. SU1 performance was amazing and right up there with 2020 but LOD was terrible. At the moment I just don’t see how they can possibly fix this. In this beta, object loading distance is much better than 2020 (SU15 and SU16 beta) but performance is horrid

2024 was supposed to be the solution to the Xbox problem. And the memory management enhancements that they’ve rolled back into 2020 in SU16 beta seem to have fixed the no runway lights and black screens problem from what I’ve been able to tell. But right now, it’s Microsoft Cessna Simulator 2024

EGLL-KLAX live everything both attempts. All aircraft downloaded

  1. Pmdg 777 er (unverified for 2024 - I knew) w/simbrief planning for plane and manual efb programming for atc started out ok-ish but decayed into “cooling molasses.” it worked better on an earlier beta version at mkjp. Moved to Abort before ready to push. Ctd after esc key
  2. Asobo 787 w/ efb planned route started out significantly worse than pmdg above did and ended at least as bad. Screens started turning off and on randomly freelook was “cold molasses.” had to put pointer on button and count to 3 before clicking in case it was still moving. Aborted before 50% preflight. No Ctd.

Kjfk ground live everything. Atr 72. Downloaded core, not liveries. Used plain livery. Powered, cockpit prepped, plan loaded, box programmed. Shudder and Ctd.

The 777 issues make sense in the 2024 context. The 787 and atr as msobo products, not so much. I’ll try the payware planes above in 2020 and decide if I’ll leave the 2020 su 16 beta

Since I’m here. Got to 1.5.4.0 via a clean install and aircraft download. First flight was a ga plane (pc 12? If memory serves). Went well…
Another flight 737 - started well enough. Stutterfest to land.

EDDM/EDDK

Terrible performance, stutters even on cruise. I was testing photogrametry, so I blamed it and turned it off…but not improvement.

At least not ended on CTD like 99% of flights on 1.5.3.

Is telemetry on? It’s the only thing that could explain why the performance is so bad.

Hello @JuanPa75,

For clarification, telemetry is always on for both the beta and regular release builds. What you may be thinking of is the enhanced memory logging which we have used in previous betas and which has a negative impact on performance. When this is enabled, we mention it explicitly in the beta release notes.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

“when enabled” you can’t disable it on XB

Enhanced memory logging is enabled by the developers during certain beta builds. It’s not a setting that can be toggled on or off by players (on both Xbox or PC).

Hi Seedy,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. And you are right. I was thinking on the enhanced memory logging but say telemetry.

So, is off… then must be something else.

I’m glad to hear 1.5.4.0 is out. I’m reading it’s a little better than 1.5.3.0. Any other thoughts on this. I look forward to this all coming together. I’d say overall the sim is going in the right direction for sure with a few setbacks along the way like the stutters in 1.5.3.0. But overall liking how the menus are working better. The whole menu system is working much better for me like in My Library, etc. Aircraft bugs are fixed. ATC is more functional, not perfect, but improved. I’ve heard some of the unclickable EFB options may have been that I set some custom control bindings when I should have used Gamepad Tranverse. Is that right? What will happen to my control bindings? And developers are working hard. I like that. I just propped over (pun unintended) to 2020 for for some great Idaho Backcountry flying in the Trent Palmer Kitfox at the Orbyx airports. So fun. Also, landing up on the mountain next to Sulpher Creek Ranch. Goodness. I enjoy the freedom to use external views, drone and slew in an unrestricted manner without affecting performance in 2020. When this happens in 2024, I think I will jump for joy. Have a great aviation weekend fellows!

I’ve increased my cache tonight and now my TCA throttle quadrant is effectively dead. None of the throttles, gear, parking break, any dials or buttons are being recognised. What on earth?

I can also no longer change any of my controller sensitivities without every single change on a slider (eg changing rudder axis) asking me to create a new profile. This wasn’t the case before. Now can’t adjust any controller sensitivities.

SU3 Beta 1.5.4.0 broke my sim

This is my experience with 1.5.4.0
I ran previous version of the beta (1.5.3.0) with the downloaded and installed content

  • update of the installed content failed. The Base Content file although it was downloaded and installed kept on showing ready to install. subsequent attempt to install kept on spinning the progress circle for approx 15 min
  • forced restart killed the sim, unable to go pass the “xcub” initial FS2024 welcome screen, resulting in need to delete all downloaded content in the game xbox root menu

reinstalled the content and then following issues noticed:

  • thrustmaster controls were not working properly
  • attempt to re calibrate, however the calibration tool kept on creating new profiles even though I created a new profile (it was not remembering it). at the end I ended up with over a hundred new profiles
  • but the calibration worked I managed to create a flight
  • While Taxiing, I noticed moderate stuttering
  • Take off run also with moderate to extreme stuttering then short periods of smooth movements.
  • at approx 3000 ft the sim crashed after ATC cancelled my IFR

all in all, while attempting to create a flight, I restarted sim approx 25 times and xbox about 4 times experimenting with downloads, enabling disabling content, calibration changes, unplugging and plugging back thrustmaster peripherals.

This latest update reminds me of the day 1 of the game release last year.

The sim is no longer playable for the setup I have. But I accepted that with the Beta trials, hoping that this will get fixed soon.

Did anyone else noticed +200 (222 to be exact) new assets on the loading screen?
My “headcount” used to be 1056, now is 1278.

Did I miss something on the release notes?

I’ve got exactly this, plus now frozen options menus and CTDs. Never had this in the 0.3.

Tried a flight on the new beta, but very quickly went back to SU2 and 2020!
A20N from Pyreegue Edinburgh V2 to Bristol. Frame rates were so bad when taxiing and takeoff. The stutters and freezes have been replaced by loads of mini stutters and freezes instead. Quit the flight, as it was unbearable!
