ISSUE DESCRIPTION

AI traffic aircraft sounds cut out abruptly after a short distance from viewer. Observed both in cockpit / external views and walkaround / drone mode. This is using the FSLTL traffic models

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

All the time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load into airport with AI traffic enabled (I used Beyond ATC with FSLTL models)

  2. Observe (listen) to AI aircraft taxing / taking off

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

Have you tested without any addons ?

Will check with the base traffic models,

I have raised with the FSLTL team and it may be related to the sound priority changes they made. If so could indicate some potential issue with that system.

Topic moved to Sim Update 4 Beta | MSFS 2024 > External 3rd Party Products since addons are involved. In case you can reproduce without any addons feel free to create a new report in the Sim Update 4 Beta | MSFS 2024 > ATC, Traffic & NAVAIDs.

I have the same issue. It works well in FS2020

I noticed the same with the most recent FSLTL models. Pretty sure it’s an issue with them (FSLTL), not the sim itself.

In the more recent FSLTL Base Models, as mentioned in the release notes, we lowered the sound priority in our sound packs as we had complaints the AI sounds were being played over sounds from the user’s aircraft (similar issue as here, but instead of AI aircraft sound getting cut off, it was for the user’s aircraft). In MSFS2020, even with the slightly lower sound priority, there doesn’t seem to be an issue.
But in MSFS2024, it seems the lower priority is allowing the sim to cutoff (or cut-in) the AI sounds if other higher priority sounds are out there… the theory being the sim is limited to how many sounds it will play at once, and with the lower priority, the sim stops playing them once the AI aircraft is a certain distance from the camera.
Again, not an issue in MSFS2020 with the same models, same soundpacks.
In our opinion, the issue is with the sim… but our change in sound priority has now shifted what sound is being cutoff to the AI aircraft.
