Reminder:
Add-ons/Mods/Community content are not official Microsoft Flight Simulator products and may cause issues with the Build. If you encounter any issues, move ALL add-ons from the Community Folder to another temporary folder (on the desktop for instance) then try again. If the issue stops, add back the community content one by one until you find the add-on that is causing the issue.
We strongly advise not using the Dev-mode mode if you are not a developer/content creator
I’ve only done 3 VFR GA flights using VR so far in .22 but I’m very happy with how it’s performing and how it’s looking. Barely a stutter, just a couple of small ones after landing on the 3rd flight. And considering I’d cleared the rolling cache I wasn’t expecting it to be so smooth on the first flight, especially with my slow connection.
Certainly no new issues to report so far. I hope others have an enjoyable experience with this build too
Edit: I would love to see something done with the EFB in VR to make it a more compact and practical size.
Best yet! For me anyway this beta has improved my performance in VR beyond any expectation.
The first thing I do with any new beta is try to break it. I loaded it up with the ini A350 my most demanding aircraft with my most demanding airports WF Scenery Hong Kong and Cloudsurf Singapore. For the first time ever I had a glitch free flight 80 fps with Virtual Desktop and Spacewarp. This is with TAA at 100% and most setiings on high. Never happened before!!
Although a lot of people have issues with SU4 beta I have had no issues at all, with my aircraft of choice and my type of flying.
The only thing that really bugs me with the SU4 beta is the LOD issue with the landing gear of other aircraft on the ground. You get way too close before it shows. It looks like the aircraft are floating at first. Ironically the last piece to appear is the nose gear, and this looks really weird after the main gear appears. It is a VR issue as it looks OK if you switch to 2D mode.
Great performance. Aside from the black lines which still appear on tiles of ocean since the beginning of time… I get filled in pretty quickly… I see no major problems here. The performance is solid, including at busy airports. No problem with lighting, and finally, finally in the latest build or maybe the build right before it they fixed the mouse problem so you can switch between mouse and VR controllers fluidly without having to shut the controller off.
For me, the peak of performance on this beta cycle was still builds .18 and .19. Subsequent builds, including this one, have reduced overall smoothness, even if FPS remain pretty good.
MSFS SU 4 Beta .22 Build
9900X3D
64GB RAM 6000MhZ
5090 GPU Watercooled
Freesync 4k Monitor
Nvidia Smooth Motion = ON
NvidiaDriver 581.80 (latest available)
VR Active Varjo Aero Resolution 3540x2440
Foveated Rendering OFF (as ON would be to heavy on my CPU and Starts more stuttering) AND there is a BUG when using other values as 50 for the Primary Aerea (Shaking Image)
DLSS Balanced
Original DLSS Profile by SIM
Framerate Limited in SIM Setting at 45FPS
Medium to High Settings
Raytracing OFF
TLOD at Ground, Takeoff and Climb fixed 75
TLOD set at CRZ FL340 to TLOD 200
OLOD 150 Fix
RJAAVABB
Important: All Measurements in MilliSeconds (Frametimes) and Time is in Seconds
FrameCAPX 1 startet while Pushback and left on during Taxi
FrameCAPX 2 Takeoff and Climb
FrameCAPX 3 at CRZ FL340
FrameCAPX 4 = Aggregation of the above 3 Measurements
FrameCAPX 5 and 6 = small stutters from time to time not clear why CRZ Level 340 above the Ocean. This Frametime Stutter lastet only 0,7 Seconds and dropped my FPS from 90 to below 80 (almost 70FPS ) and back to 90 again in 2 Seconds.
FrameCAPX 7 and 8 Above Shanghai
Daytime=Sunset. Sun above horizon till reaching CRZ Level
Pushback & Taxi (Gate 33 to 34L at Narita)
The spike occured while making a 90 Degrees Taxi Turn from Taxiway to Runway Entry (not onto Runway as that would be another 90 degrees turn, not captured here)
Little Stutter Occure from time to TIme in CRZ (here above Ocean 100NM before entering Shanghai Area)
0,7 Seconds this FrametimeSpike lastet, FPS Drop lastet almost 2 Second same moment. In VR noticeable (FPS and Frametime from the same Spike deep dive)
You could support by making your “feelings” measurable with free tool CapFRAMEX
It is super easy to use and shows the issues in form of FPS and Frametimes. It does Not influence your flight performance so does not influence your flight and smoothnes or not smoothnes in any way. It just makes clear what is happening on your end and shows the Dev Team what is ongoing at our End. Combine that with some info regarding your Hardware and Software and Settings, and you make your post more valuable.
