OK, the only change I made after yesterday was to update my bios to the latest version, thinking this would make things better. This was a big mistake. The sim runs horribly. I decided to switch back to my previous 6 month old bios and now everything is running butter smooth instantly.
Performance is poor with plenty of severe stutters. I do get consistent 10 - 12 frames more in MSFS2020, in the same scenery locations with similar settings.
Iām finding this beta fairly good in terms of performance, but still getting stutters over PG areas/busy areas like London.
Aside from that itās very smooth and I will say that the stutters, whilst fairly frequent as mentioned, do seem to be less distracting, i.e. they seem to āblipā, more than the huge jerks previously seen when stutters are experienced.
Iām getting ok frame rates, mostly between 40 and 45 fps with a 9800x3D and a 5090 but the stuttering is very frequent and jarring. Sometimes itās just video stutters and sometimes it video and audio. I can have periods of time I donāt get it and then have 10 mins or so with it being constant. Otherwise I think this is getting in good shape, but the stutters need sorting before GA release.
I canāt even be able to test the beta in VR. As soon as I hit CTRL+TAB, I have a beautiful black screen on the monitor, and seconds later, an awesome CTD. ![]()
For me these updates make the VR better than FS20 already in performance, there is some stutter here and there from time to time, that should be solved ofc, in big detailed airports all I think like KLAX EDDF EGLL e.g., but mostly smooth, not terrible unflyable stutters like before, but better by the moment than FS20 for me clearly in VR, maybe is time to change totally from FS20.
The night problem in VR is corrected and some like more 3D VR objects, like if with a slider you increase the 3D perception, in the formers betas, also solved, really good work, continue haha, don“t stop.
Happy to change to FS24 soon totally in a near future, it is superior in many things, light in day-dusk-sunrise, clouds-fogs etc., night already the same or better than FS20 also, though still there are also things to solve vs FS20, but impressive the good work that the team is doing with time, thanks.
Change the Nvidia Driver to 581.94. Windows 10/11 has big bug and it takes performance down on Nvidia Cards.
I have had very smooth performance with .31 since updating to 581.94.
This build has smooth performance but has introduced a large lag/stutter every few seconds when taxiing or taking off. It also happens looking around on the ground in a parking spot. Itās worse in PG areas but still seeing it even in non PG areas and default airports (although itās much better the less demanding area). Iāve tried it multiple times the last 2 days and it really kills the enjoyment. The stutters improve once you take off and climb to altitude although last night I had a huge lag at 40,000 feet and then a crash to desktop. Last build + the 581.94 drivers was perfect for me and I didnāt have this lagging/stuttering issue.
Thatās strange. Iām not getting any stutters that you mention and I only ever fly in PG areas like London, New York and Tokyo and I only use VR (Quest 3 + VD) RTX 4060ti 16GB, 64GB RAM 4TB NVme drive plus the latest Nvidia Driver 581.94, Windows 11 Home.
I was needed to lower tlod/olod down to 200/100 from 270/170 to get same performance as one of the earlier beta4 builds. Now I have a very smooth and stable 45fps. Everything with noticable eyecandy impact is ULTRA
i7-14700, 64gb
Rtx4090
Quest 3 Virtual desktop godlike
Best VR performance so far
I am in the W11 23H2 and the 581.80, without major problems and good performance better than FS20, though I have to test the 581.94 or wait till the official release. I have hopes in the next new W11 Xbox version/mode now in beta or in the SteamOS for PC, for a near future and upgrade.
Yesterday I did a flight of ~3h on San Francisco/roads/bridges etc. with the R-66, and its west coasts and cliffs, and pebblesā¦, much better than FS20 an real, in one moment I felt that I could smell the sea and the saltpeter haha, and I am not joking in that, and could be better even with better photogrammetry/sea/coast waves etc.. ofc.
This beta build is by far the worst VR performance Iāve had so far.
Iām getting good FPS in VR, however when turning my head to look around I get stutter. It doesnāt seem to be framerate related. It seems almost hardware calibration related. Iām using a Meta Quest 3S and a 5070ti.
I can get smooth performance with 1.6.31.0 after other peopleās recommendations, but Iād rather have the smooth performance people seems to be getting in MSFS 2020. Right now the margins are so narrow in MSFS 2024 that itās impossible for me to get a consistent 45 FPS in VR so I can use 90 refresh on my headset. Instead I can barely get it to run with 37.5 FPS with a 75 Hz refresh rate. But a consistent 37.5 is better than stuttery 45 FPS I guess, if thatās our only option. However while I had a smooth experience a few days ago, I found the sim last night to be a bit stuttery again (same 6 month old BIOS version on both). But the margins on getting 37.5 FPS are very low.
Donāt worry, theyāll definitely change it because it currently works great for me and that never lasts ![]()
It is ācuriousā, the FBW A380 is one of the worst to be close in online if not the most, together the PMDG 777, low performance and stutters. Yesterday I was close to one A380 in FS24 KJFK with the Bell 407, and the performance was well like other planes, a surprise, then today I tested in FS20 and the hit in bad performance was the same like always, and both the actual stable v.0.14 4K version, maybe FBW specific FS24 version now?, or this beta?, I remember, I think, the same really bad performance also in FS24 with the FBW A380.
Yes, same here. The A380 is a mess for performance. The a320 is perfect. Very odd.
