ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: SU5, 1.7.10.0 CTDs on loading during “Activating Packages…” phase. This happens every time.

Weather settings: Live Weather

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time an attempt is made to load the sim.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Downloaded the most recent beta 1.7.10.0.

  2. Click the MSFS 2024 icon to start the sim.

  3. Get the new dialog box:

  4. If I simply wait without clicking, I get a CTD within 7-8 seconds.

  5. If I click “Continue”, I get a CTD when at “6% Activating Packages”, rarely at “7% Activating Packages”. If I click “Safe Mode”, I get a CTD at “6% Activating Packages” most of the time, but sometimes at “2% Registering Packages”.

NOTE: I have not had this happen with any previous stable or Beta version. I tried with all Community and Official (and 2024 specific folders) renamed. Did not make a difference. I even tried renaming the “Packages” folder to “OLDPackages” and it did not make a difference.

If any addons in your community folder, have you tested with an empty one ?

Are you saying if you turn OFF Frame Generation in the AMD app, that things work? If so, I checked and do not have Frame Generation turned on in the AMD app. I have been using FSR3 in MSFS 2024, however.

After more attempts to load MSFS 2024, made some modifications to the bug report above. Also tried a Repair of MSFS, which was successful, but made no difference. Still can’t load the sim. I have made no changes to the simulator or Windows 11 settings, and have not installed any new programs/apps since I used MSFS 2024 yesterday evening. The only change was the download and install of the latest beta version.

Ultimately you could try the following:

  • If you have an antivirus, temporally disable it
  • Opt out from the Beta
  • Uninstall/reinstall the sim

Same, the game Really crashes in the video at the beginning

Try.

Edit usercfg.opt file

Open usercfg.opt file via notepad.
Delete all lines between {Video and the closing } bracket.

Save the changes to the file, then launch MSFS.

I suspect this is an issue only with certain AMD adapters. I’m not seeing this issue with any of the nVidia setups I have.

Thanks for the suggestion, @TenPatrol! I tried it and it didn’t result in any different behavior, unfortunately.

Our team mentioned that this crash seems similar to one that was recently fixed, but to confirm, would those affected try to delete their USERCFG.OPT file, relaunch the sim, and see if the crash continues to repro?

Tried deleting USERCFG.OPT. Same results. Can’t load the sim beta.

I’m suffering the same issue. RX6800XT here.

Already tried:

  • Deleting streamedpackages folder and content.xml
  • Repair the game through Xbox app
  • Unninstalling it and installing again

Same result, CTD while launching it.

Same issue here. AMD RX 6900 XT. Deleting UserCfg.opt still CTD.

Also with empty Community Folder.

Since it appears to only affect older AMD GPUs, I would suggest using DDU in safe mode to perform a clean uninstall of the drivers and install driver version 25.12.1 and see if that resolves the issue

I am on 25.9.1 (the latest 100% stable one) and same issue
