I do not have any rolling cache enable. Never did. This issue has nothing to do with rolling cache but how MSFS loads airport object. I have my Object LOD to 100 and it still does it.
Turning rolling cache on should actually help reducing the stutters technically. As it will be faster to reach out to the files cached. I have mine on but neither ON nor OFF helped with any stutter.
In my opinion rolling cache is only good to reduce server traffic, to fly offline or to fly everyday around the same city because as soon as you fly over an area which is not cached the rolling cache needs to be rebuilt. This type of cache would be fine if you were playing a racing simulator as you are always bound to the circuit limits but in an open world scene it“s not really practical as only few km around you are cached and can only be reused if you also stick to those limits too.
The biggest workload happens on flight loading (the blue loading bar screen), where the whole scene is downloaded from server and loaded from local folders and then loaded into memory. Once things are loaded into memory they are much faster accessed than from any hard disk cache and that ensures the lowest latency when updating scenery or panning camera. That“s how it worked since early stages of game and always produced good results as the further updating of scenery later on while you fly requires just very small amount of data, which in addition is received periodically reducing the memory updating requirements.
Later on Asobo decided to play around with memory management and destroyed what had worked fine till then, resulting in the stutters and freezes plague we all know. Even with rolling cache enabled memory is still used and while memory works as slow as it currently does now no other optimization will solve the performance problems as memory is the current slowest factor that blocks everything else. Even high-end PC systems, so the brute force approach, are reproducing the same stutters and freezes. However in that case the faster the system the less noticeable they are. But you can still see them and take a look to the performance graph to detect when they have been reproduced.
Asobo should realize that target is not to run game on a smartphone and forget about the unpractical optimizations they have been implementing during the past months. They should focus on running it using each client“s max available resources, letting users to adjust settings to lever workload on each client in accordance. So basically do what everyone else does in other games.
Cheers
Using Nvidia reflex to on+boost helps but reduces fps, need a fix for this badly as we have real-world traffic and ground traffic with liveries on sim update 15
Yeah! Itās unfortunate but at this rate I donāt see anything they have done improving the performance of the Sim actually working! Sim update 15 was my biggest hope considering the promises in the Live Stream Developer update in January! But that turnout to be even worse (at least for me and at least so far) than SU14. I would be happy if MSFS 2024 has good performance and better graphics, but considering how things have gone so far (specially with the promises for SU15), I am not very optimistic!
I am guessing that FS2024 will be the solution. They have to move some processes that runs on the mainthread to a different thread so that when itās loading airports object, it doesnāt overwhelmed the mainthread. That would resolve the stuttering issue at 5NM from final. This is the major issue left in MSFS that would make this simulator the best. Xplane looks awful and runs awful but I donāt stutter and I can actually land an airliners.
Where did you get information that having nvidia reflex on+boost would reduce FPS? Are you sure about that?
For me it does on dx11 maybe it doesnāt on dx12 but that takes too much VRAM for my PC to handle!
Thatās true, it decreases latency at the cost of fps. You can check it yourself trying ON vs OFF observing the fps.
today i tok a couple of GA flights in the Piper with minimal in community and on each flight I am getting complete freezes for upto 15 secondsā¦the sound continues, then suddenly the game come back. If the plane was moving at the time of the freeze - it will appear in a new position. Its very bad. I started recording half way thruā¦
And it has nothing to do with SayIntentions, this happens all the times whatever I have running or installed.
Yeah, The problem has been a lot worst in this SU15 beta than previous beta. Almost impossible to land an aircraft without 1 to 2 sec freezes on final.
The first SU15beta was flawless, for me, the subsequent ones have introduced major FPS drops or micro stutters, but this most recent one (1.37.8.0) seems to be performing overall a bit better, however Iāve noticed when Iām using my Tobii Eye tracker, the microstutters are definitely more noticeable than in previous sim updates.
Happening to me also. Many many stalls. Bad stutters as well. I would say in the past 2 weeks, its so bad, its irritating, and on approach, it seems worst.
Anyone else still seeing a lot of stutters even with the .9 beta?
On taxi and takeoff roll itās still very apparent that something needs to be reworked.
10900K 5.2GHz, 4090 Strix, 64GB RAM.
What plane?
What airport?
Nope , super smooth
Iām not seeing stuttering in the .9 build. Only 6 hours flight time, but smooth in every flight.
With the exception of my Christchurch Intl (NZCH) to Wellington Intl (NZWN) flight - the others were in the Orkney & Shetland Islands that had very little live or multiplayer traffic - I did not experience the momentary stutter I usually get as airport AI traffic & ground scenery is loaded as I approach the airport.

Iāve been flying mainly with the Flybywire A320, although with the PMDG 737 I just did a test run and it is smoother, so Iām guessing itās probably down to the aircraft? The airport I recently purchased is MMPR (Orbx) and Iāve been flying in and out of this airport a lot lately.
Iām continuously checking my BIOS settings to see what more I can do to ensure the performance is stable. I did disable Speedstep recently and noticed a slight increase in FPS. In the FBW when I takeoff and pan I do see some stuttering though.
Have you tried to limit your fps via riva tuner with the vsync setting at āfront edge syncā? In general it is better to cap your fps at a level that your cpu isnāt the limiting factor. This way there are no stutters. Dump your graphics down and look what fps your cpu can provide stable, then cap a little under this, up your graphics again and activate framegen.
In my case i capped at 70fps because my cpu can provide 35fps everywhere. With riva tuner and its front edge setting iām stutter free.
