As if Laminar Research were bragging today that they’ve sold 1 million copies of X-Plane 11, considering that more than half of those buyers have already switched to either X-Plane 12 or MSFS.

A number more relevant to popularity would be the average number of concurrent active users, as these exclude those who used it only once and who have already uninstalled it, highlighting more those who use it today and with a certain regularity

X-Plane 12 vs MSFS numbers on Steam (these numbers are from Steam DB):

349 all-time peak users, even with the recent 33% sale of X-Plane 12 on Steam. I don’t think MSFS went on sale 4 months after its release, and had anything like a 33% discount (I recall maybe 15% or 20% discount on Steam before, but not 33%). X-Plane 12 looking like a huge flop at this point.
