But if it retains what it had and just goes on to download, will this not corrupt anything as it maybe downloads in two different locations then?
It shouldn’t download anything if you change it back to your original location F:\MSFS 2020.
But leftovers in the packages folder might still be there and take drivespace.
You can alt-f4 and change the folder in the config file.
Ok, so I’ll stop it. But how dod I do this, just end the sim? There’s only a “Pause” button.
You can close the sim and restart after you changed the foldername.
There could be some leftover files in the packages folder.
Spot on! It’s starting up with no update. I’ll check for leftovers now. Thank you!
Dont delete the wrong packages folder.
If there are files in this folder
AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages
it’s okay.
edit
Nvm, Iam blind
I’ll check.
It appears that this is the correct sim folder (it’s on drive F:), I remember I originally installed the sim to drive F.
Now, what it obviously did update was the content of the empty OneStore folder because the path in Useropt.cfg was wrong. The OneStore folder on F:\MSFS 2020 shows correct content.
I made a backup of the files in the obsolete OneStore folder (it wouldn’t allow me to copy or move them to a different drive, so I copied them to a .zip file on another drive), and then deleted them all (it did allow for deletion). The sim runs fine after that.
So I guess, I’m again all set. Thanks again for your help.
The final step is to clean up the remnants of the faulty game installation, specifically by deleting the files and folders from the OneStore folder.
You can find it at:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\
For extra certainty, also remove the files and folders from the following location:
\WpSystem\S-1-5-21.....\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore
Yes, thank you, I deleted the files.
Those two are the same, they are symbolic links.
I know mate, If you have ever moved the game using the “Move” option, symbolic links would still remain on the C drive.
Ah, ok. No, I never moved the game.
It is possible that in the Xbox app you specified a different location for the launcher installation?
Could be, I don’t remember.
Anyway, I’m back to the disk usage of all of my SSDs I had before this incident.
I had that happen a few months ago to me as well - I didn’t touch roots or change anything. Something had gotten hicked up for whatever reason. Mad world
