1440P Monitor upgrade - Curved or standard?

Hi All!

I’ve recently upgraded my pc to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 4070TI Super with 6000Mhz DDR5 RAM.

I Currently have my 1080P 10 year old 27inch monitor with 60Hz and 4Ms latency so looking to finally upgrade…

I’m sure my system should be able to cope now with 1440P resolution on good settings so I’ve got a budget of £300 maximum to get a new monitor. I’m wanting to get ideally a bigger size than my 27inch I have been looking at 32 and 34 inch monitors both curved and non curved.

Does anyone have either monitor type even UWQHD I would consider and can share the monitor type? On my 1080p the flight displays aren’t the best to see speeds etc at the standard FOV in the cockpit so hoping 1440P will help with this too!

Thanks all!

Hi mate,

I’ve got this one : Acer Nitro XZ342CUP Gaming Monitor Review - All-Rounder Ultrawide at 1440p, which seems to be on your budget (can’t really be sure, I bought it in France). I love it. I’m not really demanding though

A few things I need to say, regarding your original post :

  • 32 inches UWQHD = 27' 16/9 with more space on the left and right
  • Going from HD to 144P will not increase the size of the text, it might make it cleared though
  • Remember that 1440p is 1.77 times more pixels than 1080p. It’s not as simple, but let’s say that if your computer has issue (lags, freezes, stutters) with 1080p, it will be harder for it to run at 1440P (and probably more than just “1.77x harder”)
  • I don’t know if HDR has a performance impact
  • Your GPU needs to have a display port to fully benefit of your new screen, but HDMI can do it (especially if the rest of your hardware can’t make flight running at 1440p@144Hz, which no one can :D)

Maybe you knew all of that before, but I wanted to give some insights

Happy flying !
