172 g1000

Does anyone think the C172 G1000, with no mods other than NXI, aircraft is a bit slow?

I suspect the steam gauge 172, with no mods, has better legs.

What do you guys think?

I assume you mean you notice poorer sim performance I.e. impact on frames or smoothness, have you tried changing the setting for glass cockpits?

Sorry, no, I refer to air speed. In my sim, the aircraft fly’s much slower than the Classic 172. Really pushing it to get 104 kts ias, with no significant weather.

You can compare to the performance charts for the actual 172S.

Remember to look at your KTAS, not KIAS.

@Crunchmeister71 Wrong model, hehe.

D’OH!. Thanks for pointing it out. I had originally copied that image, realized it was the wrong one. I found the right one, but apparently didn’t copy and I pasted the 172N chart instead.

Corrected now.

Important distinction here. 104 kts ias may not be achievable at all at 8000 on a hot humid day. You may not even get to 8000 depending on your load. Important to compare the various performance charts with actual in sim performance using True Airspeed.

If you want a 172 airframe, but snappier performance, consider MrTommyMxr’s JT-A mod. It turns your C172 G1000 in the peppier, higher performing turbo-diesel version and includes a FADEC model for realistic power performance. He just finished revamping the engine and system gauges to be compatible with NXi so it looks and feels like the real deal instrument wise. Pull it back to 70 percent above 8,000 and you’re sipping around 6-7 gals. Go WOT and you’re averaging 125-130 KTAS. It has some nice touches like better lighting and some surprises inside the NXi, and I’ve never ever gone back to the normally aspirated models.
