Afternoon everyone my pc is getting delivered on Tuesday and I’m after some advice
I only have 2! Sockets in my room but have a built in desk socket.
I’m thinking is it safe to plug the gaming pc and monitor into one socket via a surge protector ? Like this one

Or am I best just plugging pc into a mains socket without a protector and plugging monitor into an extension ?
That looks like a power strip more than a surge protector. It doesn’t say how many joules it will stop. It doesn’t have any insurance associated with it.
I have a Tripp Lite surge protector with my Xbox Series X and Samsung TV plugged into it. I don’t know if they make surge protectors for the UK, Amazon won’t show me products that ship to the UK without entering a proper postal code.
Look for a surge protector that has insurance and talks about how big of a spike it can handle. It will cost more than £20 probably. Closer to £50 I’d wager.
That one is 350, we don’t get many thunderstorms here in the north of England and if we do they generally don’t do much or last long way too cold
I’m more thinking towards the end of electric going off in a winter wind storm or something ( doesn’t happen often, just had 100mph winds and everything was fine ) and to also utilise one socket for the tower and monitor freeing up the other socket for a extension to plug other stuff into like chargers etc
Also my tower is going to be sitting directly in front of the said plug socket, will this be fine for the hot air blowing into it ? I don’t have any other options really apart from dismantling the desk and swapping what side the tower sits at but I don’t really want it in the corner of the room as where it is now is right next to the door to vent the air hopefully
