+20 FPS ! what is happening here

I found this by accident. If you go into Developers mode > Windows and turn on Console your FPS should rise. I have a 1080Ti and I7-8700K running Ultra 4K with only trees and bushes set to medium. I flew through New York City and my FPS went from 27 to 47, just by having the console on. Not sure why this is so but I will take it. The scenery looks just as good.

What software are you using to read the FPS count?

Are you sure you arent measuring the fps of the console screen :joy:

Yeah, this could be similar to the VFR map situation.

I’m wondering this too, are these true FPS counts from the game or just reading from a menu?

OP, did you actually notice a significant difference in gameplay? That is a pretty big jump in FPS and I imagine you’d be able to tell pretty easily. You can also look into getting a different FPS counter to verify.

Ah ah ah :joy:

I made the console full screen and i have 70fps now instead of 40. But i can’t see where i’m flying.

If you cover a part of your screen with an opaque window the fps will rise because your gpu doesn’t have to draw part of the screen. This only happens when you are gpu bottlenecked.

Thats just not true. Your counter reads the FPS from the console window.

Turn on the internal FPS counter in dev mode and you’ll see that you didnt gain a single FPS.

The only fps counter you should rely on is that one from dev menu. Other fps counters especially Afterburner can falsely report double fps if you export screen or have VFR map on. With my 9900K/2089Ti setup at 1440p high, Afterburner reported up to 120 fps whenever I activated a second screen despite the actual frame being around 60.

The developers FPS and also MSI both show the same thing.

I don’t think so because the Developers FPS is showing this unless it is adding the console into it.

The internal FPS from developers is on and showing +20 FPS along with MSI afterburner. Both show the increase.

Develeopers is the one showing the increase. I also use MSI and it shows the same FPS.

Try using just one of the two FPS counters and see if you get the same results. Like use them individually, riva will sometimes double count if you have multiple FPS counters open.

Same thing happens when you pop out MFD and PFD using right ALT + click: suddenly FPS count raises like double. What is happening is that the counter is measuring the popped out panels FPS… sorry.
