2020 recent performance downgrade

Since the recent spate of weekend connection issues in FS2020 there has been a very noticable downgrade in BING MAP DATA rendering even at close range.
Im not talking about the LOD or draw distance since the last SU I mean in general performance at very close range, even with multiplayer data off etc.
Is this a side effect of their quick fix of the disconnection issue? Or is it a side effect of sales methods to push players to 2024?
Either way its getting really rather annoying flying around blurry lanscapes and airfields often with no map data overlayed at all.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it a local or global issue? Is it a new bug?
Please discuss

FS2020 performance is really bad for me too… it’s lagging a lot…

Second to that, 2020 feels behaves like after su13, it feels choking after time + handcrafted airports are affected by lags and black screens.

Past few days I am increasingly getting disconnected from the servers mid flight. Never had this in 2020 before. The disconnects are random and last only for a few seconds then the connection is restored. It’s not an issue with our broadband as other services like Netflix and FIFA are operating normally.

And the “checking for updates” is absolutely long… :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Where are all of you located?

I’ve run 2020 as recently as 12 hours ago and had no difficulties.

Moscow Russia connecting to the “Western Europe” servers.

Yes, I can confirm this, even with a high-end system (13900KF, 64GB, 4090, nvme, 1.5Gbit/s).
Stutter on takeoff and landing - especially when on the ground - which were absolutely absent until a couple of months ago.

Some suspect that the problem is caused by an incompatibility of MSFS2020 with Windows 24H2, but the issue does not occur to all users, nor always.

I am in the UK and I haven’t downloaded 24H2 yet. I have definitely experienced degraded performance over the last few weeks but even more so over the last few days. Flying the Hawk through the Mach Loop, low level, at 350kts was awful with scenery popping and distortion. The same occurred flying through the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands. I changed aircraft yesterday and flew the Hellcat, 240kts, 10,000ft from West Wales to East Anglia, around 90minutes in total, which wasn’t as bad but still scenery distortion and some stutters, notably on descent through cloud and in the circuit. I am getting grumpy and seriously considering ditching this and going motor racing.

Since we have this stupid new flight-game, FS20 has become abandonware!

One does wonder if they interfere with eachother, or the recent weekend fixes are causing less performance

Remeber that latest NVIDIA drivers introduced stutters in MSFS2020. On the NVIDIA site there is an hotfix that you can download.

Not an option for console users

Yes I know; I tried both the hotfix, and the rollback to previous drivers: none of them solved.

Good point but irrelevant for us AMD folks.

Could this be why my program is consistently crashing now after years of having little problems?

Do you have a link? Thank you

??? GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 566.45 | NVIDIA

I’ve experienced more problems more frequently on 2020 Xbox x since 2024 launched.

Could it be that if the same servers are used and that 2024 is server based, the servers are just over loaded? Also, if 2024 is given preferential treatment 2020 would be left with the server capacity that’s left over. Have no way of knowing for sure, just guessing.

That may well be the case. I certainly hope not though. Plus if it was i dont think they would wver admit it either

Yesterday I flew in the G36 Bonanza (UK) EGOV - EGBK - EGSH. That is RAF Valley to Sywell (land refuel) and then on to Norwich, which is just about the widest part of Wales/England. Total flight time just over two hours at 5,000ft. For the whole transit the scenery was reminiscent of FSX; when taxiing to refuel at Sywell, which is a very busy little field IRL, the buildings were morphing in as I taxied past and there were only two aircraft on the ground. In the whole two hours I did not see another aircraft whilst airborne, despite passing fairly close to Coventry, Birmingham, East Midlands, Duxford, Cambridge and a whole host of smaller strips used by GA.

I’ll repeat what I believe and what I have said before - 2020 is being sacrificed on the alter of a stuttering 2024.
