The sim loaded your pc-12 with 5 minutes of fuel because you didn’t fill up the tank ![]()
Ya, the lack of night missions became apparent when we figured out how the whole live weather/red dot/time slider works.
start simulator. wait 3-5 minutes. START button fails to appear. only option is QUIT TO DESKTOP.
try again. wait another 3-5 minutes. START menu appears this time. select a Career Mode mission. load into mission. EFB has failed to save custom settings. reenable custom settings. notice that flight plan in EFB is blank. restart mission. flight plan still blank.
quit to main menu, reenter Career mode and retry mission. flight plan populates this time. EFB has again lost custom settings. reenter custom settings.
load into mission. click through pointless cutscene in hanger. wait through unskippable sequence of delivery truck clipping through aircraft, then through unskippable over the shoulder shot of player walking into view, then unskippable reverse shot of player gazing lovingly at aircraft. perform unskippable chores, removing chocks, engine cover, pitot tube covers and static port covers. enter cockpit.
prompt to contact ground for taxi doesn’t work. ground not responding. restart mission. repeat unskippable cutscenes and busy work for the second time.
this time ground responds. taxi to holding point, which is at the far end of active runway instead of at actual clearly marked holding point. blue taxi ribbon takes player onto active runway in order to reach holding point, whereupon player is penalized for entering an active runway without consulting ATC.
take off. fly to destination. reach approach. all seems to be going well.
while on approach, ATC changes landing runway and approach at the last moment to the one with the 20 knot tailwind. sigh wearily. set up new approach.
on descent game crashes to desktop.
LOL.
Thanks for that laugh.
Thinking of purchasing the C408. Can anyone confirm that there are Freelance Missions available for this aircraft?
There are. But fewer than for PC-12/24 and it hurts because it means that you have to transfer it far quite often, which is costly after all. Also you will have to enter the flight plan manually, as exporting it from EFB doesn’t work. It handles well though. I took of with full flaps into 12kt headwind after like 30 meters xD and then landed in similar conditions in like less than 100m.
I’ve finally made it to NZ from Australia without having to fast travel. After weeks and weeks of medium cargo in the Pilatus 24 across the red outback of Australia I wanted to find new frontiers, found a couple of hops over to PNG and Noumea but nothing to NZ. There are no flights/missions from AU to NZ that I could find anyway. But there is a 737 passenger mission from Sydney to Fiji and once I purchased medivac company I unlocked a mission from Fiji to Auckland. So I flew to Fiji in the cheap n nasty Asobo 737, that plane sux so much the LOD is so poor with it on Xbox. Once in Fiji got in my Medivac Pilatus 24 and flew this patient to Auckland. Long hop in Pilatus not sure if it can do it in real life I had to bump up fuel but anyway you have to make do in this mode to make it enjoyable and organically unlocking new regions without fast travel is my priority, and the LOD in the Pilatus is usually bang on. NZ looks incredible and has lots of medium cargo, Medivac missions. Whilst I was in NZ it ticked over 12zulu time and I noticed for the first time a mission to lord howe island opened up from Australia. They need to get heavy cargo opened up so we have more options to get around the map, or just give us more missions more choices
I never tried this until now, but wow, you’re not kidding. I can’t imagine this is realistic at all, but it sure is fun, and I guess I’m never going to bother back taxiing and doing a u-turn to use the full length of the runway anymore. It seriously rivals the Norden and Draco. Carenado must have put waaay too much lift increase with flaps deployed.
My routine for expedited departure with the Skycourier is to just put in a ballpark heading into the autopilot, and then I program the flight plan once I’m in the air. And by program the flight plan, all I do is put in the destination airport code and fly there VFR direct. I’ll load in the vectors-to-final after that too, which is just another few clicks.
It’s so much nicer to handle than the Caravan. However, I’m still having a dog of a time with the autopilot. Sometimes it just won’t catch the assigned altitude or heading, or it’ll just fall through the glidepath in approach mode.
I also noticed that the persistent paint wear hasn’t been implemented like on the 172 and 208. My Caravan looks absolutely battered:
The Skycourier, even though I’ve been flying it a lot more, still looks factory new apart from the dirt and bugs:
The persistent paint wear, bugs, and dirt are a really cool feature though. I hope this makes it to free flight at some point.
Some more mission fun:
I actually went around the first time because I thought I was landing on a road, with a moving vehicle there and the houses. But nope, this is the runway you’re supposed to land on. The Skycourier juuuuuust fits.
“Skycourier, taking off runway tree.”
That’s where I tested the full flaps STOL departure, and got out of there no problem.
Do not leave Australia with the PC24. It has the best missions since most runways are the correct lenght. Africa is also a good location. Just don’t go to Europe or South America.
I’ve had a couple of mission there where the runway was not long enough.
If you want a challenge try landing the PC24 on this runway ![]()
Skycourier is very limited on visibility to see scenic spots … which the PC-12 is great for this.
Is the PC-24 fixed?? Last time I tried it, I could never get autopilot to NAV, I had to use Heading Bug the entire flight.
How did you get to Australia in the first place or did you start your training there? I started training in California, completed all certifications and have a company with 3 172s in US, Japan/Korea and Europe but if I buy a new 172 I can only take delivery in areas I’ve already been and really wanted to get to NZ eventually. Is the only way for me to open up new areas such as OZ to find a series of flights that will take me from my existing areas?
I got to Australia by mining flights south from my company start in Japan. Took a while but eventually I ended up in the continent.
Believe it or not, you can get the Skycourier both IN and OUT of that 66 meter strip. Just tried it.
I started in Australia. From California I’d suggest heading towards Alaska cross over to Russia and Japan and work thru Asia. You will be able to do it with cargo and Medivac missions and maybe the odd passenger airliner mission
Glad I helped
I think it’s definitely a bug, it looks like the plane weights a lot less than it should.
I usually enter a flight plan and go IFR. But maybe I’ll try VFR.
As for autopilot, I have issues with it when going above FL190. Up to that it seems to be working fine.
The tree, yes. There is an airstrip in Philippines I think that has a similar tree at the end of the runway. I took of in a PC-24 but it requires to make the roll not on the centerline but start it a bit offset and then fly between those trees and the ones to the side. Doable but soooooo unrealistic ![]()
I know. But the mission was for the PC24 ![]()
Well, unlocking 737 in the passenger company makes the game end. The money just piles in, just flew from Birmingham to Jeddah for 8m base + 3m bad weather bonus (I skipped) and used autoland…
The oh ■■■■ moment was that after skipping the autopilot disconnected and elevator trim was in very high nose up position so I stalled, twice, before figuring out what is wrong… got some turbulence and motion sickness complaints from the passengers (I quite agree, got from 50 nose up to 70 nose down in second stall), got a huge reputation hit (dropped to C from high A) but still, took like 20 minutes to get 11 million…
Flying 737 is boring, the routes take you through restricted airspace (I still haven’t figured out how to avoid them), got speedlimit ding when I was at 240kts with gusting headwinds (the IAS indicator didn’t even register 250kts) and it was counted 7 times.
So in the end 737 transports for me have huge incomes, but I then have to fly one or two cargo to get reputation back…
At this point after 3 flights (737 + pc-12 + pc-24) I tend to go to free flight and just practice landing… or sightseeing
MCAS will get you every time. Lol
