Sad to hear about that, and it would have annoyed me too, which is why I don’t use it.
Ordinarily you would fly that 4 hour flight, and enjoy it for what it was. A well executed trip. But now you have a goal attached, a reward, and failure states. You fail, no reward, no dopamine, number does not go up, and frustration kicks in.
A question for those that have leaned into it heavily. Perhaps those that have unlocked everything, except those super heavy missions we are waiting on.
When you have everything unlocked, at some point you may tire of career mode, so do you see yourself continuing to fly MSFS outside of career mode?
Of course, I didn’t fly to a fishpond to scoop. But choosing a mission with a suitable scoop location isn’t possible at the moment; there are no more AT-802 fire missions anymore.
A little tip for those who have too much repair costs for one or more planes but a little time and energy…
On PC (that’s my setup), uninstalling and reinstalling the “game” will restore all your company planes to like new!..
It’s not fun, but hey… It’s up to everyone to decide the benefits/losses/time.
My recent experience with career mode:
I’m not on SU2 Beta just the SU1 live build
Did a Charter VIP flight from KIAG to KTUL here are some of the issues I encountered all in one flight.
Starting at a towered airport once started, on the mission steps screen I get “press enter to announce taxi” (not what you’d do at a towered airport unless the tower was closed) when I press enter, nothing happens, I open the ATC window from the top center menu and only have options to “Tune to KAIG ATIS” and “Announce taxi to parking”. From here there is no way for me to progress forward without receiving a “aircraft entered taxiway without permission” ding even though I’ve done nothing wrong.
When I finally got in the air and was able to request IFR clearance, as soon as I press enter both my character audio and the ATC clearance play at the same time over each other making it difficult to hear.
Descending below 10,000ft speed limit is 250kts. I cross 10,000 set at 250 and the second it went to 251 due to turbulence I get dinged. Not realistic at all, irl you set 250 and if you briefly go over ie 251 or 252 due to turbulence no one is yelling at you to slow down. Especially with the way msfs updates weather, I’ve been thrown 1000’ over my cruise alt and 30 knots slow or fast from weather updating in the sim.
Live weather doesn’t seem to be functioning or correct. Descending into KTUL I check the current weather on airnav.com and see it updated 12min prior, perfect, winds 130 at 6. Great I’ll plan on landing 18L… No, ATC wants me to land on 26 with almost a direct tailwind. While landing with a tail wind is a real world scenario (I’ve had to do it multiple times) in the sim there is no other traffic and it was a VFR day. I opened the ATC menu to see if I could request a different runway… Nope can’t do that. So I change my whole plane last minute and go land on 26.
Taxi clear and and get my taxi instructions which actually worked. And behold they want me to park my Cj4 at a gate between to A330’s. I shutdown and complete the flight.
Overall career mode has become more of a chore than an enjoyable addition. Having to work around MS/Asobo in order to progress rather than on how well I can complete a flight. For me career mode is on hold for now. I’ve built a decent fleet and surpassed level 230, but it’s become such a frustration to fly.
