2024 Career Mode

Agreed, simple things that would make things easier for players.
A big bug bear for me is the wishlist and bug threads where something has to get tons of votes for it to be noticed.
This community could make this sim so good if only MS/Asobo would stand still for 6 months and fix what is here, have a thorough look at improvement suggestions and bug reports. Attend to those, allow the community to help - there are some very knowledgeable folk around this sim forum.

For default aircraft in career mode, We are currently missing the passenger c408 in career mode, passenger c404, all the twin otter configurations, the Saab 340B freighter, 737 max VIP version, and we can’t buy the pc6 yet in career mode :frowning:

I own it for a skydiving company - has that broken recently?

While we’re at it, I think the following 1st party aircraft would do well in Career if enabled:

  • Grumman G-111/HU-16 Albatross (Microsoft / Mike Johnson)
  • Dornier Seastar (Microsoft / ATSimulations)
  • Boeing 747-400 Global Supertanker (Microsoft / Working Title)
  • Latecoere 631 (Microsoft / BlueMesh)
  • Savoia-Marchetti S.55 (Microsoft / Mike Johnson)
  • Fokker F27 Friendship (Microsoft / iniBuilds)
  • Nihon (NAMC) YS-11 (Microsoft / iniBuilds)
  • Douglas DC-3 (Microsoft / Aeroplane Heaven)
  • Grumman G-21A Goose (Microsoft / iniBuilds)
  • ICON Aircraft A5 (Microsoft / Asobo)
  • Bell 407 (Microsoft / iniBuilds)

And that’s not to get into the fact that there are a few Career specializations they could theoretically add such as sky writing to open up aerobatic aircraft for more use or using balloons for things like flightseeing or even aerial advertising. But I can understand why that wouldn’t yet be a priority given the state of what’s currently there.

This list also doesn’t begin to dive into the remaining 2020-native Aviator aircraft, of which I think many if not most would be suitable for Career in one or more specializations. I’m optimistic though based on AAU4 bringing Career compatibility to all the ones that aren’t sea planes (as those are still blocked from Career overall) that future Aviator Edition aircraft updates will include Career whenever possible and logical.

I was thinking more about light cargo and have not done sky diving career stuff because right now I specialize in vip cargo and passengers

Night missions and/or more red dots are a very good welcoming.

Am so pumped to get stuck into some sunrise departures and/or sunset arrivals in the heavys…golden hour is the peak enjoyment for me, the day night transitions are amazing, flying around the northern hemisphere currently so close to summer solstice is a real vibe.
Sometimes I wonder if they ever knew it was a problem unless we screamed louder.
Ya know, unintentional bugs v design choices.
It was pretty quick to implement, noting a good serverside hotfix. These small QOL improvements make career mode even better. Thankyou

I wish we had the older configurations of the current aircraft as well like the b737 300, b747 200 and a320 (CEO) so it could help with costs in career mode

Seems like if we’re actually trying to simulate things accurately (which can be questionable with Career’s economy) older aircraft like this would be incredibly expensive to maintain, have higher fuel costs, all the reasons real world carriers have moved on from them would be/should be present in Career mode.

But realistically I think they would be priced the same as any other airliner. For comparison just look at the A310, which is much older than the A320neo or even A320ceo - I don’t think it has significantly cheaper (or cheaper at all, really) costs associated with it.

The 737 300 was 40 million new, and the max in game is sound 90 million

There’s a 737-300 in the sim that’s Career compatible? Or are you referring to real-world dollars here? In which case, there’s no correlation of real-world dollars to the Career credit currency at all.

The grind to progress to airliners is truly excessive in my opinion. Considering that lower-tier missions pay you around 2 or 3 million on average, you need about 40 to 45 flights in medium cargo or VIP just to afford the first airliner, which costs 98 million plus maintenance fees. That is too much if you ask me

There isn’t I’m using IRL numbers on the 737 300

Going by IRL prices A brand new Boeing 747 200 cost is at 40 million during its years service

Sure and from what I can see a 747-8 costs over $400M, which is far from what we get in the sim - so I don’t think there’s meant to be much correlation to reality there.

I agree, career has no correlation with reality - esp the maintenance schedules and costs.
Also a new 737 in its day would not cost 99,000,000 with the 2nd hand one being 98,500,000cr.
I don’t know what the real world earnings of 1 long haul is but also I’m pretty sure it is not 30,000,000 for a 7hr flight.

The problem arises when you have a lot of GA and they start becoming more expensive to maintain than you earn and you are forced onto airliners to be able to fly at reduced altitudes because you still do want to sightsee as you go along.

I would prefer higher savings/lower costs for manually manually maintaining parts. There needs to be a larger incentive (bigger discount) not to use mechanic delegation.

It’s a tough grind at times especially if you have a fleet of auto crewed airliners and wish to fly some GA missions (medium cargo, VIP, medivac )you won’t earn enough money in these missions to cover the costs of the passive airliner wear and tear. Sometimes 45mio for the airbuses in 1 hit. If you have 4 airbuses that’s now 180mio in maintenance. How many VIP missions is that? Approx 36, you will be sure to get smashed with another 45mio bill within those 36 missions, you will bankrupt yourself.

You have to micro manage and go into your airliners and uncrew them for the time to wanna fly some low paying missions.

There needs to be some tweaking for sure. I’d nominate wear and tear rate on engines halved. It’s brutal we are replacing engines every 50-100 flight hrs. This is probably the most unrealistic part of it all, wear n tear rate of many things but the engines are at the top of that metric to fix

Anyone seen this New cargo ops mode called “Remote Cargo Ops”. It appeared tonight with a picture of the A400 and a few gold star missions for it.

Yeah I’ve seen it but you can’t buy the plane anyway, so it’s just a meh employee mission with poor pay IMO

I really want this place in my fleet

Been available since SU5 released I believe - you won’t see them unless your aviator rank is S I believe.

Yes, it’s fun and I am preparing an A400M tutorial about the auto-pilot.
