At least you had a climb option, captain.
Career Mode brought me back. My HOTAS was gathering dust.
I’m now flying again and my copy of 2020 is uninstalled.
I’ve been having a blast. Yet to start a company, but have the majority of the fixed-wing quals and am enjoying flying the different mission types that opens up.
I guess I’ll start a company eventually, but the best bit about the career mode is that it provides me with stuff to do, wherever the mood might take me.
Nor me. I am not skilled, I bunny-hop the faster aircraft to the ground, it’s not pretty. One of the tourists said it was terrifying and not in a good way.
But I’m learning…
That’ll be me, when I get back into the helicopters.
I have observed the same, for cargo missions now I only get the half that I got before. Maybe they adjusted the credits.
The crash with the invisible obstacle crashed my plane two times. Another time I pressed Alt+N to skip to parking and my airplane ended up upside down on the hanger, another crash… Career starts to become pointless.
I want to know who made the jet ATP cert mission. It spawns you over 250KIAS and dings you for overspeeding, and literally nothing is properly configured for the approach. Kindly, find yourself another job because you suck at this one.
Sounds like it could have been me!
Need some hints where to start the search in helicopter search and rescue missions to find the victim. Is it in the center of the red circle shown on the efb or elsewhere?
I just played a bit of career mode getting my PPL and doing a sightseeing tour with 2 dumb passengers and I fail to see how this is going to engage people.
- The story line is cringe
- The scripts are cringe
- The characters are cringe
- The flight lessons are a joke
- The checkrides (PPL = one circuit) are a joke
- The flights look like a grind (admit, I only did one)
The people coming from Call of Duty, Alyx, DCS etc. etc. are used to a total different gaming experience to put it mildly.
Most serious sim and real life pilots won’t even bother to go through this Disney fairy tale career.
Fact is that flying is too boring for the average person. In real life, doing a scenic tour is a lot of fun, but in a game (even in VR) that gets boring after a while. There’s also no real competition element. The lasting fun is learning how to actually fly but that’s only for a niche group.
Titles like War of Thunder are more suitable for gaming for obvious reasons.
I predict the career mode is a waste of resources and will become a ghost town.
BTW: I wonder how many users are actually doing the Reno races in FS20.
2024 is DEAD END in my own opinion. Ive gone back to sim racing, and occasional 2020. They lost me and my money.
100 hours in. Loving it. Can only get better from here!
Currently flying over the pacific ocean with a VIP charter flight. The passengers here are… “less cringe”.
Don’t lose sight of the fact this is a mass market entertainment title for gamers who, on the whole, won’t know the technicalities of real world ops. Thus, I would hazard a guess that time and money spent on accuracy isn’t the priority concern.
Nothing wrong with having gaming options. I do believe that career participation will drop, however, please remember that many in community use those “spreadsheet” career pieces of software. The msfs2024 of career does shine above the “spreadsheet” software of careers. MSFS2024 will always have folks flying around in careers. Everyone else, just go back to freeflight and enjoy the sim.
I think career mode will actually keep the sim alive.
While I agree it needs work, it does give a purpose and I no longer need to use NeoFly, AirHauler to do this.
If that part of the sim doesn’t interest then don’t use it, I don’t see an issue with having options
I guess my point is that career mode is not going to engage enough gamers in the long run. Sim flying is just too boring for the average gamer.
And the ones that will get hooked on flying would probably enjoy much more the interaction/anticipation with
- Weather
- ATC
- Traffic
These are 3 things that make flying in real life fun and challenging and are completely missing in MSFS.
Personally I wish they had put the resources there, but I get it. It’s not for the masses.
No I agree, weather, ATC and traffic needs to massively improve, totally agree with that. It’s quite a joke that it’s still rubbish in all honesty.
They need to be a priority and get them right in the sim
Well i disagree with you.
The result of your gameplay is, how you play it! You understand me, what i mean?
I dont use the MFS24 as a arcade game. Mostly of you forget the sense about a flight simulator. I love the career mode and this is how i fly:
Preflight check → Cockpit preparation → Check the EFB with the flight plan → Start the aircraft with checklist → Before Takeoff check → if anything works good, then i start.
And thats the same way in real too. They always do the same procedures. And if this bores you, then its simply not the game for you. I do this stuff since years and i never got bored.
Asobo did a great job with the career mode where you manage your own airplane and have to be careful. Its actually very good made, there are a lot different missions and yes they have the same procedures, because thats how it works in real life too.
If you want to get more professional, use the free flight, do your own flight plan, buy Sayintensions or BATC ATC addon and then you will see the immersion, when you have to manage all that stuff.
And for sure there are a lot of buggs, but i was able to fly and do all stuff i else do. They will fix all that stuff, dont worry.
Have a great day
Elsewhere probably, hence the “search” bit in the mission type.
I’ve just done my first S&R mission proper and if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have discovered the beast that is the Mike Patey Draco X. What a fun aircraft that is to fly, with exceedingly short take off and landing and so much engine power. Not only that, it has pretty top-notch avionics too.
I’ve just managed to find a cargo mission that uses it too, so let the fun continue.
