“There’s still room for improvement”. So irritating. Like what? What should I improve. Doesn’t say. I held the assigned 2000 ft on autopilot the entire time that objective was on the screen. Do I have to reach the long final waypoint at 2000 ft, even though the altitude objective is no longer on the screen? You’re way too high if you do that and will have to slip it down. Don’t know. Doesn’t say. How did I not respect the flight plan? Followed the preprogrammed path using the autopilot. /shrug
Oh, and don’t try to call the tower before the little box pops up to press enter. If you do it yourself too early, you’ll screw it up and get an overflying the airport penalty. I was worried I was instead going to get that penalty for busting the class D airspace at Tacoma Narrows because it doesn’t suggest you contact tower until you’re right on the airspace boundary. Nobody would do that in real life. Just press enter and have it do it for you and you’re fine. Try do it like it’s real, and you’ll mess it up. In real life you’d have to get a class B clearance and departure instructions from clearance delivery, handed off to departure and they’d hand you off to the tower, but we can’t make it that complicated on our ATP checkride now can we?
Yeah, you can perfectly follow the flight path and altitude on autopilot and it will still give you a poor rating for those. For reference I accidentally belly landed for my ATP and I think I still got an A on it, it’s utterly nonsensical.
Are your CTDs resulting from “resource exhaustion - memory”, as that’s what I’ve been getting since the update?
Never had a CTD before that, so it’s either a massive coincidence or more likely something that’s been introduced by the update. I’ll try some similar flights in Free Flight today, to see if Career Mode might be the cause, as the mission window didn’t appear to be reacting to me pressing the Quick Reply button, before the failures.
If you want the route that gives the ‘easiest’ path to get some money incoming, start with a Cargo with a C172 then save for VIP charter with a Vision Jet followed by C208 for medium cargo seems to be the route to go. From there you can pretty much go whichever direction you want.
I want to be able to do flightseeing in an A5 but it would be run at a huge loss as id be fast travelling all over the world depending on my mood
I admit I’m struggling with the flightseeing missions. I’ve been heading around Europe and hearing the place names and personal names mangled as badly as they are is straining…
I’m hoping with the flightseeing that once the related bugs are fixed we can have the POI marker we have to circle without having the blue boxes. At the moment it seems to be an all or nothing situation with the visual aids.
Workaround is to fast travel yourself around from the world map to areas that you havent ‘uncovered’ yet so that accessibility to regions is increased. You probably don’t want to go too far as it gets expensive to transfer your plane but if you uncover italy and greece for example you should see more available missions and the transfer costs shouldn’t be too bad
I wish they’d just give you a selection of missions from your current airport in all directions rather than these totally random (but also sometimes never changing) spawns.
I’m putting a pause on career mode now that my next cert is Airline Transport, needing 40k credits and I have next to no credits. Earning 500 at a time. I have a hunch eventually the sandbox mode request will come to fruition.
Nope no way to do that from what I can tell. Theres no way to do a free flight within career mode. You have to use fast travel and plane transfer.
You could do employee missions to try to get to where you want to go, but will still have to pay for your plane transfer.
Career mode is bare bones and the missions are very limited and restrictive right now. 3rd party career apps like Neofly give you lots of ways to filter, sort, and generate missions. Hopefully the ingame career mode will have a similar level of functionality in the future but right now its not there yet.
Is that an error message that pops up during the crash, or are you catching that code in an error log somewhere? I’d hope it’s not memory exhaustion. I have 64 GB of system RAM and 24 GB of VRAM. But I’ve definitely been getting a lot of CTDs. They were rare in 2020, but I’m getting multiple per day, and I would guess even more since Patch 3.
Using the autopilot is actually one of the mission requirements for that checkride.
tbh, i’m just going to avoid 208b missions until that’s fixed. it’s awful. 3 hour flight and then you get that suicidal yaw on rollout (even in calm winds). maybe you’ll recover, but maybe you won’t, and then the entire flight is down the drain. shouldn’t happen, shouldn’t have to deal with it. do not want.
