Odd that the AAU is not even mentioned anymore. Sharing new timelines would have been nice after it got postponed on super shirt notice. Still waiting to finally get some ATR bugs fixed.
Yes, I agree it is strange that they donât mention the AAU4 release at all. Strange and disquieting.
Just a guess, looks like they are hyper focused on sorting out SU 5.1 for all platforms and players?
Well looks like AAU4 is dead then, seeing as they have avoided mentioning it in the above article. Would love even just an acknowledgment that it is still being worked on please! We are now 10 days past the supposed release day with no update anywhere to be seen.
Hello @mwr2410,
AAU4 is still being worked on and is not dead. We will share more information about it when we have new information availlable.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Pity thereâs no mention in the briefing about all the stuttering issues PC users have been experiencing.
For the SU6, I hope they focus on the weather
i doubt , the weather is " Perfect " for them :))
More like 15 days past the original release date. It was supposed to release with SU5.
Bizarre that they announced any date at all if it clearly wasnât in a state to be released.
what I find funny is that when an update is released on time, the forum professors say they should have âtaken more time to ensure it was readyâ
and when an update is âlateâ the professors say âwhy did they give us a date at allâ ?
Both of these opinions assume that there is some kind of perfection to the state of all things.
MS should say - âWe are going to make a perfect update and it is going to absolutely be ready on this exact date. It will work flawlessly across all platforms and hardware configurations with a zero chance of failure.â I mean, that seems to be the expectation every time - might as well tell folks what they want to hear, yes?
I think they are doing the best they can. I think the communication lines between them and us are open and that MS/Asobo work to fix their product, update their product, and maintain access to their product within the framework of what is possible in the real world.
Not sure why people set the bar so much lower for gaming companies than for other industries.
other entertainment industries? or are you comparing gaming companies to agricultural, industrial manufacturing, medical, and all other industries?
People have always been different about entertainment spending and expectations. All you have to do is look at what is spent in the film industry or pro sports - especially F1 racing but across the board. Apples to apples nowâŠ
I would say entertainment outside of gaming is held to quite a high bar (in terms of dates), primarily because of the monetary investment involved. You delay a movie or a sporting event, you may be putting millions or 10s of millions of dollars at risk. Comparatively, the gaming industry doesnât have nearly as much money on the line and it has become par for the course to let dates slide. And flight sim has even more of a trivial amount of money at stake.
Remove the context of industry all together though. If you promised me X on date Y, and it is now 3 weeks since Y with no explanation and no ETA as to when I will receive X, thatâs a bad look, no matter how you spin it and no matter what industry. Especially on the timescale weâre talking about. If this date was announced a year ago and it slipped 3 weeks, no problem. But in this case, the delay after the promised release date has now lasted longer than the build-up to it.
Youâre totally right that expectations can be too high on both sides of the coin, but this is a different matter entirely.
I can agree with some of your points, but then it seems more like a âtruth in advertisingâ complaint.
To me - âtruth in advertisingâ is a prime example of an oxymoron. We are ultimately left to determine for ourselves whom to trust among the purveyors of goods and services we want or need best we can. Some of us have less trust in others to begin with while others just have a more generally relaxed attitude about what goes on.
For me, in this case regarding MS and the development of this flight sim, I feel like the work is being done. Maybe not as efficiently or transparently as Iâd like - but I donât feel like my money was stolen and my house ransacked over the missed (self-appointed) delivery dates of a massive software conglomerate.
