21:9 34" Monitor

Thank you. I am now trying to get the best suited monitor. I love the Alienware AW3418DW but the price is very high.

The Alienware gets a great review

Thank you. Now looking at monitors.

Same here! Iā€™ve been looking at that one for a while. Currently have 34" LG 2560x1080 (that I want to go up in). I do like the ultrawide and I donā€™t think I can downsize from it! And I use a 22 inch Dell touchscreen as a second monitor - in FSX was able to drag panels to it and use my finger for switches, but canā€™t do that in MSFS. But I do drag some of the dropdowns over to it.

It certainly gets a great press! I see theres a AW3420DW now out for the same price, but one review seemed to indicate you can only use it at 1440 and no 1080P. Not sure if thats correct as I might need 1080P if card cannot run FS2020 at a reasonable FPS at 1440 without having to turn everything right down.

I have the GTX 1080 too. My concern is like youā€¦ will it run it without too much frame drop. Didnā€™t want to have to buy a new monitor and a new card!

Shame thereā€™s no practical way of finding out before spending Ā£1000. Neither do I want to buy another card.

You canā€™t run the game multi-monitor with different resoutions. But you can drive multiple monitors with pretty much any discreet GPU made in the last decade.

Well, that is really the thing missing. Exactly what I7 3.5ghz CPU are we talking about @CrabNebulae2636?

Because I am concerned you will end up CPU bottlenecked. Because if you are talking about the I7-3770k, that is what I run with a GTX-1080 (in 3840x1600) and I am definitely CPU bottlenecked in this sim. This sim has a hefty CPU requirement.

If you are driving 2 1080 monitors, I wouldnā€™t be terribly concerned about going up to one 3840x1400. But I really donā€™t see you running two 3840x1440 monitors with that hardware.

Iā€™m running an I7 4790 4 core processor at 3.6 ghz on a Gigabyte H97-HD3. I have not considered CPU bottlenecking.
Iā€™ve been running most parameters at high With traffic (various) at 70%. Frame rate averages 30 with the two monitors running FS2020 in a window. If I cannot run it comfortably at 1440 thereā€™s little advantage to buying a wide monitor other than to remove the bezel between the two Iā€™m using at present.

I forgot to say I am replacing the old monitors. I wonā€™t be running them as well as a 34ā€.

Iā€™m runniing the game on a Ryzen 3700x, 32 Gb 3200mhz RAM and a GTX 1080. I also have a 34" 3440x1440 60hz monitor.

On high settings with 200 terrian LOD I get 40-45 FPS in rural areas and 25-35 FPS in urban settings.
On ultra settings I get 30-35 in rural areas dropping to 20ish in cities.

I usually play on high. Games look great on an Ultrawide screen monitor.

Iā€™ve got the Alienware AW3420DW. Go for it, itā€™s an amazing monitor.

Not a 34" but a 49", I have orded the Samsung Odyssey G9 (5,120 x 1,440). Currently I run a RTX2060 with 3 x 1080p monitors. But I am also looking to get a RTX3080 - maybe.

If anyone is interested I will post on how this goes.

The Odyssey is a stunning monitor, so by all means do share some shots if/when you get one. :+1:Happy with my 34in for now plus a new GPU is the next thing for me. Plus Iā€™d need a bigger desk

That sounds really good.

I think Iā€™ve made up my mind to go for it.

I run MSFS multi monitor, each a different resolution.
Main monitor: 34" Ultrawide at 2560x1080 (DisplayPort on GPU)
2nd monitor: 22" Touchscreen at 1920x1080 (HDMI on GPU)

Same when I use my laptop with MSFS:
Laptop monitor: 17" screen at 3840x2160
2nd monitor: 27" monitor 2560x1440 (DisplayPort on Laptop)

Iā€™ll be buying a new GPU in the next few months. Waiting for AMD to release RDNA2 so I can compare their cards to the RTX 3000 series, but the 1080 runs the game well enough at the moment. It can do 30fps at high settings, the game is perfectly playable at that.
