Controls are so confusing, there are profiles for the airplane section, then the general section, and then the specific plane loaded. How do I simply bind a stick, and then assign that profile to 3 or 4 planes in my fleet?
It was not that bad over here in the Netherlands, during the day.
As from 1500cet however, it is unplayable again, and moreover, not even starting up again…
I have been flying from 8am this morning until now 5pm this afternoon, all sorts of planes small and big all over the world in all sorts of weather. Flew it at 4K with most settings maxed out and it’s been fine most of the time. Smaller planes gave me up to 100fps, bigger planes made it drop down to 15-45fps (ouch!).
There is a big drop in fps when you fly the bigger birds, there is a bunch of graphical glitches and issues to adress, some planes show some oddities with the controls at times, quite a bit of lod popping which they need to fix, DLSS caused blurriness and jerky movements for me, FSR2 worked better. But i expected some of these issues since it’s basically a beta release and not Gold or Final.

For me, if it will load into a flight, it runs great. I agree with others that controls set up is a mess. 2020 was bad in that regard and clearly we’ve decided to expand on that idea ![]()
I haven’t loaded any 3rd party stuff yet, as always I find the included planes to be a little generic and simplified. But the sim looks and runs well (if it starts).
Things are good here on the Central Coast of California — reasonable initial load times, able to access Free Flight and scenery looks to be loading well.
I’ve had no problem getting right in since about 10PM Mountain time last night. However the graphics are less sharp both in the cockpit and outside the cockpit. The windshield and windows are not as transparent as in 2020 and that dull colors outside as well as reducing sharpness of terrain and buildings. Flight is fairly smooth but fps are considerably less than in 2020. I’m a pretty experienced user bought 2020 upon release. 4090, 5800X3D, 4k monitor, Varjo Aero headset. Big disappointment that I cannot save a flight as in 2020 unless I am missing something; can find no way to save a flight. Disappointed greatly at the less sharp graphics.
Appreciated the video being released about the server problems and have been able to launch a few times without issue since then.
First few flights in the C172 around my familiar airport were enjoyable. Love being to open the windows now and the resulting sound changes. The scenery does look improved. Lots of new features to explore. Optimistic the team will continue to sort the teething issues. Already feeling like I don’t want to go back to MSFS 2020.
Funny how some people are working, and others are not. I can never get any graphics in the World map, but when I go to fly the sim stalls.
Well I can now get passed the loading screens and the character screen. Unfortunately I have still not been able to load a flight, because it doesn’t get passed the world map.
On a positive note, I have just freed up some space on my hard drive.
I managed to have several successful flights yesterday. Now I just started the sim, went really fast! But now the sim crashed twice when I wanted to start a free flight and switched to the helicopter category.
o.k. not fore me this whole day… living near Rotterdam…
I’m in Austria. Was able doing a few short test flights around noon. Now it’s stuck when loading into the airport in free flight
What a Trainwreck this is…
In the Netherland the hole day intermitted server problems.
I can fly but the connection with de server is not stable.
Pros:
- Loading time of the game is good, 90 sec. shorter then MSFS2020 to get to the menu.
- FPS is good between 50 to 80.
- Flight dynamics of the standard planes looking good and is in my opinion a little bit better then in MSFS2020. (But i have not tested with FBW A320 and A380 and PMDG 737).
- The flight planner is usable, but i need some time to get used to it.
Cons:
- The grass in Rotterdam area looks bad, only a green color, no structure on Ultra setting. (server problem?)
- The roads are sloppy and looks sandy.
- Many buildings and structures are not as nice as in MSFS2020.
- To many ships everywhere.
- I miss the visible graphic feedback of the analog controllers in the configuration menus.
- ATC is still not better then in MSFS 2020, i don’t use it.
Overall it’s not yet what i expected from it.
So, i hope for some good updates from Asobo.
Also hope that my personal FBW en PMDG planes soon get ready for the new sim.
The grass is back, must have been server related.
I’ve loved flight simming for 20 odd years but the last 24 hours have been pee poor. Not good enough. What has boiled my blood tonight is the flipping stupid bandwidth warning while it loads. I thought ok no problemo, just stick Lan cable in and use the power of the full 900 I got. Nope, still says the same. With the money I have spent on Frustration Simulator I could have bought 3 games and would not be pulling the remaining 6 hairs on my head out.
I have one GB LAN and that make no difference.
It’s the server that can’t handle the large group of users.
I think it will be better over a few days.
First run gave me the 97% load freeze, restarted and honestly, I was able to get the PPL last night in career mode. Flew the Beluga, the 737 Max, the A321 in short circuits around my home base.
Today I got to fly a lore more, got myself the CPL and did quite a few missions.
All of this with a 1gbps fiber connection on a laptop with 16gb of RAM and an RTX 3050 Ti Mobile.
MSFS2024 works great for me. Only big cities have reduced photogrammetry data. There are bugs, but thats ok for me.
My city, Ottawa looks worse than msfs2020.
Had a bunch of CTDs when trying to configure setup.
Wilga, Cub doesn’t load.
Community folder is ridiculous.
Not having a lot of fun right now TBH…
I have finally been able to play a few flights properly, and both the trees and the night lighting of the cities are much better than in 2020
I have been having a LOT of fun in career mode.
