Here is an update to the 3080 issue. Looks like the fix will be a firmware fix, or break. For the existing boards out there they will probably limit the frequency. I of course don’t fully understand the details but to me it looks like overclocked boards will be tamed a bit.
Sticking with my stable 2080ti for now.
YouTuber TechYesCity has a video on exactly this and shows MSI Afterburner turning down the clock to 95% seemingly fixing the problem with no FPS hit as makes any difference.
do i have to ask for a redeem ?
This is why you don’t buy from scalpers. You aren’t the original buyer and can have issues with warranties etc.
ASUS 3080 TUF comes with 6 MLCC’s! I’d be happy if I already purchased this card.
well this is the card i bought too the ASUS 3080 TUF and i have a lot of ctd ,unfortunatly…
Unlikely, what will probably happen is that the manufacturers that have put in the cheaper parts will issue a BIOS update for the card that dumbs down the boost on the clock speeds.
As has been publicized, the EVGA cards being delivered to consumers (some reviewers got an earlier version) with 2 of the 6 as MLCCs, just like the FE nvidia ones, so they should be ok. I don’t overclock anyway, so I guess in any event it wouldn’t affect me.
That’s unfortunate.
My prediction is that after awhile, some combination of updates/fixes will make the 3080 a great card to have. Of course, my prediction is worth what I’m being paid here
Yah, this is the best video I’ve seen on the topic.
There is a new Nvidia driver out today which further optimises for RTX 30 cards in many games. I have tested on my GTX 1070 and the results are pretty amazing on my rig. I have discussed it here …

Yah, I just gave these drivers a go and I like them. RTX 2070.
