These are my suggestions (for VR specifically but probably work in general also):
- Turn off Windows Game Mode
- Turn off Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
- Set Graphics performance preference to Desktop app
- Make sure you have appropriate driver version – I use latest one: 471.96
- Install OpenXR Developer Tools through Windows Store, enable “latest preview OpenXR runtime” in its settings, set Custom Render Scale to 70% (tweak it later).
- Set in game VR graphics settings to low to start with (you can raise them later once you have good FPS)
- Set offscreen terrain caching to Ultra (this is v important, their new caching system is terrible, and anything other than Ultra results in lags every single time I move my head)
These made massive difference for me (on 3080Ti with G2 Reverb). I get 45fps constant with 100% in game render scale and High clouds setting (even in the middle of full cloud coverage, while close to ground).
Also you can find many guides on this stuff if you google / search the forums.
