At least you guys have QVL lists to look at. Lenovo doesn’t have anything for their Legion desktops, so it is all guesswork if you want to expand the memory capacity. I looked on their forums. There were some suggestions. I looked up one of them, but the modules had been discontinued.
I’m going to try the following:
G.Skill Ripjaws S5 Series 64GB (2x32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 5600
(PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3040G32GX2-RS5K
The I7-13700KF CPU is supposed to be good up to 5600 MT/S. I chose this 6000 MT/S. If it runs at 5600 MT/S, that will be fine with me. I’ll see if it works. If it doesn’t, I’ll send it back and reinstall the old RAM and rethink the whole thing. My problem is that I don’t build PCs, so I don’t have a lot of experience poking around in the BIOS.
The Lenovo I bought came with 16GB of 5600 MT/S, but it was running at only 4400 MT/S. The memory speed in the BIOS was set to default. A lot of people were complaining to Lenovo about them selling machines with faster RAM and then setting it to run at 4400. Turning on XMP, it now shows running at 5600 MT/S. The machine boots up and I haven’t had it crashing on me so it appears stable.
