5800X3D vs. 7800X3D from i7-6700k

Conventional wisdom is skip the 5800X3D if you don’t already have an AM4 system to swap it into, though you do save some money in the short run by reusing the compatible RAM from the Intel system.

This is not a bad way to go if you’re short on spare cash now but expect to be able to make a large upgrade in the future when you’re not fighting early release inventory shortages.

I’m expecting to sit on my own 5800X3D for another year, especially if MSFS 2024 gives me the performance uplifts I hope for, and then most likely move to a 9800X3D.
