Hi, I have recently bought the pmdg 737-900 for msfs and so far it worked perfectly until today. Until now the ground steering of the aircraft was easy and smooth but today the plane became very hard to steer. Even with full rudder, the plane turnes really slow and hard. Because of this almost every time I end up off the runaway or taxiway.
This isn’t a problem with other planes than the pmdg 737-900. I have tried everything, but nothing seems to work.
Do you have any suggestions regarding my problem?
Hello Luca, welcome to the Forums!
Did you add anything to your sim lately?
Are you using the Beta trial program?
Other then the pmdg 737-900 I did not add anything new to the sim lately and I am not using the beta program.
Oh, and I added some liveries for the 737 but I don’t think that could be a problem
I doubt it as well, but if you can’t find another reason, it may be worth a try to uninstall them and try it.
Have you checked the calibration of your controls?
Other than that, bearing in mind you should be under ten knots when turning, and using differential braking to help with the turn, there isn’t a whole lot than can affect it.
Yeah, but even if I’m going with 10 knots, the plane isn’t able to take the turn and goes off the taxiway
It is the same behavior that I find on all variants of the 737NG PMDG. I think it’s normal. Hold the rudder down without releasing it and reduce your speed. I don’t know if it’s realistic because I’ve never flown an airliner but for example the FBW A32NX lets you make 180° turns at crazy speeds, the 737 doesn’t.
I’ve had this happen on the 800, not sure what caused it either but a reinstall fixed the problem.
I tried taking my turns even with full rudder but in my case that did not make any change. My plane was still very hard to steer making it almost impossible to taxi.
In the air there is no problem but the moment I touch the ground, my plane starts being very hard to steer. I even tried the , service all’’ option in the pmdg setup page but it didn’t do anything.
Also when I start the game the plane doesn’t work at all ( rudder and all kinds steering is locked) but when I hit service all it unlocks these features. Although they work, my plane is still very very hard to steer.
I really don’t know what is the cause of this problem but I hope it will get fixed.
Same here. It sometimes works normal, sometimes do not. And there is a strange behavior at reverse trust, when i disable it plane jumps 5 10 meters forward.(737-700 xbox)
It maybe a problem from pmdg. I just tested all the other airliners and the 737 is the only one that doesn’t work. Even the 747 works way better.
When I was taxiing the 737 I took a look at the front wheel and I noticed that is turns way less then it does on the other planes.
For example, it turns about half the angle it turns on the a320 neo.
The PMDG Boeings have an option that selects rudder only or rudder+tiller steering. If you have the latter selected then maximum rudder nose wheel steering deflection is 7 deg where the tiller will defect up to 80 deg. Be sure the option matches your configuration. Secondly, Asobo has intentionally created a very unrealistic nose wheel skid feature such that when the nose wheel deflection exceeds a moderate amount at speeds above about 3 kts the airplane will plow forward. The only way out of the skid is to center the steering, decreasing the defection will not stop the skid. If you keep your ground speed at 10 knots or lower (13 will work but you have to be careful) and enter the turn with slowly increasing deflection and do not over do it then 90 deg turns are easy all day long.
I haven’t tried calibrating my controls yet. Do you know how I can do that?
I am new to a PC coming from Xbox and recently got the Thustmaster RJ connector that I can get the pedals hooked up directly to the computer. I posed this to Chewwy but haven’t heard back. Now
unfortunately, I can’t turn the plane despite having the nose wheel steering turned off and on the FMC where i just have the simulation turned to rudder steering. I had no problem with seeing the rudder move with the Xbox but not here. There is no way now that I can taxi.
What do your controls look like in MSFS and what am i doing wrong?
