737 MAX Glidescope (G/S) not capturing

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Glideslope (G/S) not capturing despite showing armed.

737 MAX won’t capture glideslope despite APP mode being on & G/S showing armed in grey under VNAV ALT on PFD & showing purple arrow on the speed tape. Audible glideslope warning goes off while approaching runway despite not capturing it & even when manually maintaining proper glideslope.

This is even after manually correcting ILS frequency on NAV com (because doesn’t transfer from EFB anymore). It won’t capture on any ILS runway at any airport that I’ve tried so far. They have worked in the past.

There are no community folder issues & I’ve uninstalled the downloaded 737 to make sure there wasn’t a conflict with previously downloaded content.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every flight

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Choose Boeing 737 MAX, runway start (example KFLG or KHCR to KSLC)

  2. Plan IFR flight on EFB, all direct to ILS approach (example KSLC - ILS RW 34R), send to ATC and avionics

  3. Clean up FMS: Delete discontinuities, enter reference airport position, correct cruise altitude in VNAV because doesn’t transfer over from EFB anymore, delete and reconfirm V speeds in TAKEOFF perf (or leave the different ones), confirm LEGS, confirm arrival in procedure in DEP/ARR and that glideslope is selected on, EXEC

  4. Perform normal IFR flight using LNAV & LVL CHG to cruise altitude, change altitude selector to FAF & turn on VNAV. VNAV decent executes properly at T/D, descends to final approach fix at proper altitude (auto throttle on since cruise altitude, maintains proper speeds per flap settings all the way to runway)

  5. Enter approach mode APP just before reaching faf, G/S arms in grey standby on PFD, other glideslope indicators appear on PFD, but G/S is never captured despite flying right through it with proper settings & indicators showing.

FYI, This is fixed in the newest SU5 beta build. Hope they fix the 787 as well but so far just the 737 Max 8 in the patch notes.

I just tested it again with the latest Beta update & the issue still exists.

The issue wasn’t that G/S wasn’t showing up on the FMA, it’s that it IS showing up as armed (in grey under the green active mode (VNAV), but it’s not capturing the glide slope and following it despite being in APP mode since just before the faf.

Also, if APP is accidentally pressed earlier in the flight, it won’t shut off & it won’t allow switching to another mode like VOR/LOC, it just stays on and becomes unresponsive.

APP is supposed to automatically override VNAV, but it doesn’t function whether VNAV is on or manually turned off.

G/S stays in standby despite flying right through the glideslope, which is indicated by the purple triangle on the altitude tape

Update: It is capturing now, but ILS frequency isn’t transferring over from the EFB when sent to avionics. You have to manually set the ILS frequency in the navcom

This is true to the real aircraft. The pilot has to manually set the ILS frequency in the Max, unlike the 787.
