Whenever I’m using the 747, especially on long flights, at random points the autpilot will suddenly veer off course and I’ve been unable to correct it. I’ve set up flights for IFR high altitude airways, and set up the ILS runway, and after take off I enable LNAV and VNAV, as well as the autothrottle, and just let the plane fly. So far, every single time, it will start to either veer away from the route shown on the Nav, or often even just bank hard left or right and fly in circles. Recently I was coming in for an approach and it just didn’t turn and missed the airport entirely. I occasionally have this issue on the a320, but most of the time the autopilot works fine on the a320. It makes it impossible to perform an ILS landing with the 747. Sometimes the autopilot doesn’t cooperate when you engage altitude setting, or engage a selected speed. If it goes off course at the end of the flight, sometimes I can land it manually, but if it goes off course halfway through the flight, if I’m doing an 11 houf flight, I have to take control and finish the navigating the rest of the way manually as well. It doesn’t help that the game persistently CTD’s suddenly either, midway through a flight or upon approach/landing.
I am new to MSFS.
Autopilot is causing lots of problems. Every time I use it for 747 long haul flights and switch back to manual the Autopilot seems to have disabled the manual thrust on joystick. Also the autopilot does not anticipate high terrain and crashes straight into it. This is particularly annoying after being 4 hours into a long haul flight.
I finally started playing with the 747 and yes, noticed the same issues. Is this in the plans to be fixed any time soon? I’m even running the GOTY version on PC with no CTDs but just autopilot going off course. It seems to be directly related to the Approach mode for me.
Was this resolved? Mines doing it all the time. Suddenly disengages and goes into an immediate left role and dive.
