I haven’t seen anything other than a stock windsock so I think you’re stuck with it for now.
I tried scaling a wind turbine too and had to give up. I’m not sure any sim object can be scaled. I guess there’s rather more to them than static objects so the sim isn’t programmed for size changes for anything animated.
You won’t have any control over the draw distance of in sim objects. If you had your own model you could experiment with draw distance, but there’s no setting for stock items.
