The feature available on the instructor station (IOS) is called “Position freeze”.
In short you freeze lat long on the model and leave all the other axis as is.
The benefit is that you can train quicker on Xwind landing and take off.
The other benefit is that for non-regression testing you do not need to perform a full circuit. You can test wind cocking during rwy roll, ground effect, autobrake, automatic spoiler deployment, RTO, differential braking, asymmetric thrust (…)
