Yeah the whole menu system feels like its held together by sellotape lol. Really I inconsistent responsiveness (especially when downloading in the content manager and on the world map) and quite a few bugs.
lifetime bugsâŚ
- like those in bush trips⌠not completing properly
- or challenges of 40âyears not completing even if you finish it and it say 100%⌠until the next start of the sim, then display 0%
- like the horizontal line in the middle of the screen
- like the DX12 which is still in beta⌠when other game will be soon DX13
- like weather and snow at 35°C
- like water flooding roads
- and many moreâŚ
those 2 are fixed in fs2024, dx12 wont be in beta, not option available for DX11, and scattered engine is totally new, no more line, and before it was one color on the sky now many at many level depend on the sun altitude, clouds light are different from bottom to the shadows on ground.
Fixed completely in 2024, and nearly invisible now in 2020
DX12 will be out of beta in 2024. Also thereâs no such thing as DX13, I donât think anyone from Microsoft has ever hinted at a thing.
That might be fixed in 2024, there was mentioned of 3D water data in the last Q&A that would avoid that issue. If youâre talking about what I think you are.
Depends on which moment of the day. I still can see it.

I say directx13 thinking of âthe next Directxâ, because the DX12 is well established and in use/used correctly âNOT IN BETAâ by many games since a long time.
so when the industry is using perfectly directx12, and will be immediately âreadyâ to jump on the next version, Asobo is still beta-testing to use DX12âŚ
Thatâs why I said ânearlyâ not âCompletelyâ
What?! Are you already using MSFS 2024?
Jokes aside, it is fixed in MSFS 2024. Itâs not fixed in MSFS 2020.
Can MSFS 2024 really be any different if all addons will work in it ?
Yes, because the addons only describe what it looks like graphically, essentially a graphics skeleton as well as information on what moves and how on that skeleton, and in the case of aircraft, parameters in how it flies, and for scenery, where in the world to position it.
As anyone who has developed any model will tell you, these models could be used in any number of different programs. Granted, there will be some differences in format that will need to be changed, for instance, some display engines expect slightly different parameters for PBR texture descriptions. But, at the base, many different programs could use this information.
MS2024 is going to completely change how information is delivered to the computer, as well as it could be a completely different graphics engine for displaying how the graphics content described by the addons are displayed and move.
In short, yes, it can be completely different program. In actual fact it probably is and isnât, in varying degrees, but I was just answering your question.
Cool5650,
I hope your right
And I guess we will be chatting in Nov.
Things are not black or white, so this âtake it as it is or don´t use itâ approach which is quite frequently seen in these discussions should not be what customers defend.
Well done and well said. No matter who you are, always have a critical and sceptical eye. At the end of the day you paid for it and until they want you to pay again, you have the right to ask for improvements. Some here are such ardent defenders of this amazing but imperfect piece of software that itâs somewhat worrying.
We all fly differently, for some its almost exclusively airliners, for others itâs GA or bush flying and so on and so forth. And within each of these areas of aviation we develop our competences and expertise and a bush flyer may notice handling dynamics that an airline simmer would not. An airline pilot may notice a lack of airport details that a bush flyer may never think about. So, if from your perspective all seems well, it may not be the case for someone who uses FS differently from you. These forums are for airing these issues and thereâs nothing wrong with that.
Only in software development can a business sell you something thatâs half-finished and get away with it. I donât buy tables that only have 3 of their 4 legs, or concrete mix without all the ingredients for concrete, only to wait a few weeks for them to send me the right stuff. The products tend to be totally complete and ready to go. Sometimes the idea is sold as âproduct gets better over time with updatesâ, which of course is another way of saying âproduct is incomplete at launch, but weâll ship anyway and fix laterâ, and personally this model is starting to peeve me.
That horrific slowdown seems to be decompression of downloaded files which possibly run on the same thread as the mainThread of the sim. Hence why it utterly freezes solid for 4 to 6 seconds when doing updates. Thatâs my guess and if itâs true, why canât they use another flippin core on my CPU. There isnât a computer around today that doesnât have at least 4 cores (8 when hyperthreaded).

agree fully, its borderline fanaticism, you canât criticize⌠period
why such an extreme reaction?
donât worry, theyâre not going to cancel 2024 because of what we say⌠theyâre not even going to delay it half an hour
so whats the problem?
itâs called customer feedback on your product
customer what now?
Thatâs just human nature, right? It seems like some people defend the sim or the devs at all costs while it seems like others complain about every nitty gritty detail like it means the end of all days or even see some kind of evil master plan to make the customers unhappy. Quite a lot of that is just our own perception because what the other person says doesnât fit our own narrative. I guess it wonât hurt if all of us take a step back, take a deep breath, and keep cool from time to time instead of easily dismissing other opinions or talking them down.
There are a lot of issues with the sim and they should be reported here adhering to the rules / code of conduct. But Iâm pretty sure that they would have already been addressed if it would have been that easy all the time (concerning technical solution and available resources).
To me this product is purely entertainment and I ask myself if I have value in what I paid. To me, yes when I look at the hours spent and the enjoyment in the product. Then itâs been worth the money spent towards entertainment.
Is the product perfect? No but it certainly is functional and works as advertised IMO.
I know many have invested a lot of money to play a flight sim game, so I can understand some frustration if itâs not functioning as they had hoped. But I think some should have perhaps been a little more realistic as to what they are getting. This is a game for under $100 after all. Not a flight sim costing $100000
⌠you canât criticize⌠period
My Personal Comment & Observation
I would respectfully disagree with this comment.
From the Code of Conduct:
Our goal is to keep these forums a positive environment for you to discuss Microsoft Flight Simulator related topics, and to provide a platform for your feedback on the sim.
The key words in that sentence is (IMO) "positive environment "
To enable that the COC asks:
Improve the Discussion
We recognize that our forums are an official place for feedback on Microsoft Flight Simulator, whether it is positive, neutral, or negative. Help us make this a great place for discussion by always adding something constructive to the discussion, whether big or small. We do not remove posts for being negative; however, we do remove posts that are toxic or non-constructive (click here for specific examples on how to improve the discussion)
and the key word in that paragraph is âconstructiveâ
IMO (again), constructive posts & posters are more likely to get noticed by MS/AS than non-constructive posts and posters.

Itâs a little bit more than just âentertainmentâ, it has been improved with each release since 1982 and has been praised by many pilots as having a relatively realistic flight engine model, and its flexible enough to allow developers to tweak parameters to provide highly realistic flight.
To add to this, most of the complaints here are NOT about ultimate realism, no ones complaining that a Cessna in real life stalls at 52 knots and in the sim its 54 knots and âwhat is this, Halo physics ?â. Itâs the endless bugs, that in some cases make it unusable, the silliest problems that havenât been fixed since the start - thatâs what this thread is about fundamentally (go up and read the first post and youâll see).

exactly, some of them really easy fixes, thatâs what bugs me
i get it⌠some bugs may be extremely difficult to track and diagnose
a fault that shows up intermitently, and only after long-hour flights? my god⌠that is a nightmare to track down
but a backspace key that doesnt work right? come on now⌠lets get real here
some of them really easy fixes,
How do you know that?
