I don’t have this issue. I can have just the taxi ribbon showing without anything else. The taxi ribbon is under assistances, then under Flight Interface I have everything set to off.
If we consider that Microsoft is a company that must generate profits, and that the average time to release new products (in this case MSFS) is about 3.5 years (from the first one in 1982, excluding the case of FSX in 2006 to MSFS 2020 in 2020, which lasted 14 years), then it’s likely that rumors about the new MSFS 2027 will start surfacing soon.
…It’s a carousel, that’s how it works.
It would be really special if they got 1 working 100% before even thinking about a new product. (Unless a brand new graphics method was developed that did not have to have ugly photogrammetry scenery/buildings at under 1500ft……or AI could reproduce a building exactly how it was built IRL)
I was very surprised to see 2024 being discussed back in 2023. Not that it influenced my decision but when I bought into 2020 it was being shouted from the rooftops that it would be supported for 10years. Well you live and learn is a saying in the UK, what I learned was not to assume 10 years meant the active product lifecycle as opposed to life support. Personally I’ve stayed away from 24 and hope that 28 does come and that the 24 lessons have been learned. My biggest fear for all games is VR support getting dropped but fingers crossed.
My huge wishes for 28 would be better ATC than 2020 (2024 is absolute garbage), continued multithreaded support (24 is great for this), better ground handling and rudder required for GA flying (as is the case IRL). I think both sims look awesome for GA and the flight mechanics of the 152 is absolutely fine so roll on 27 for the announcement
.
No. No more versions. They got a free pass (up to a point) with 2024 because the code base for 2020 was ancient and it needed a thorough work over to improve performance, but it’s time they pick a version and stick with it. I remember the ten years of support promises too, and with how expensive all the add ons already are, I’ve no desire to constantly pay for upgrades or v2s just because the base sim keeps changing.
This should really have happened with 2020, and what became 2024 should have been a rewrite behind the scenes to make the original even better, but marketing gotta market I guess.
Try this new module which is Cessna 172M and then tell us what you think.
I’m using MSFS2024 more then 2020, but I’m still wondering about the development and their quality management and gates. An example: How could it happen, that such items like cockpit views in a default plane are broken ( looking left instead of right)
If this is the future for releasing products to the customers, I’ll keep my money in my pocket
Already have. It isn’t anywhere near the fidelity of the Airfoillabs or SimCoders Reality Expansion Pack. Hopefully one day A2A or Black Square will release one for MSFS 2024. For now if I want to fly a Cessna 172 I hop in XP 12.
They even released a two engine turboprop without engine instruments, the King Air 350. How blind can one be?
First of all, we’re not talking about XP12 here, but MFS24. Secondly, it’s a free module, and thirdly, it’s based on MFS flight physics. If it had the same capabilities as A2A, it would be done using a program independent of MFS.
That tail number, and that pushback tug next to a Cessna that was always parked on a big open ramp, and those interface hints that cannot be hidden.
I’d add the city bus, forklift, etc. driving around an uncontrolled municipal airport, along with airport workers and vehicles completely oblivious to my aircraft’s presence (I’d noted this in the pre-release tech beta, and got the “but it’s a beta, wait until release! Uh, huh… right.), but I’ve already disabled it all. Heck, I’ve disabled so much of what the base sim includes (traffic, workers, fauna, included aircraft, ATC, etc.), that I suppose we should include all of that, as well.
And all of that is before I even step into the aircraft…
100% agree. A small airport environment has a special, meaningful place in a pilot’s life and it’s a bummer the sim overloads and clutters it with generic, busy nonsense. It’s very immersion-breaking to land at an airport out in the middle of nowhere and have a tug and rampers guiding you to a parking spot that’s out of place, all while wearing completely season-inappropriate attire.
Also, most GA parking is nose-out, so having that stuff in the way means I have to run over it, which isn’t just immersion-breaking, but disturbing. Get out of my way!
FWIW, there is a mod on GitHub that’ll remove airport workers and vehicles from your parking spot (which I don’t think can be removed via sim settings alone).
My solution would be to add a native setting that gets rid of that - perhaps specifying/flagging an FBO and only populating rampers on spots nearby that. Or perhaps the spots themselves can be flagged for certain types of equipment and personnel. And/or make their presence entirely request-based.
So this!

Please reread why I brought up XP 12 in the first place. Someone said that MSFS 2020 is a “simulator” while MSFS 2024 is a “game”. My post was an attempt to refute that. Many wouldn’t call XP 12 a “game” but rather a “simulator”. The reason I choose XP 12 to fly a Cessna 172 is because a high fidelity Cessna 172 exists for it. Not because I feel that XP 12 is more of a “simulator” than MSFS 2024.
That’s irrelevant to what is being discussed and I’m not expecting to get such a high fidelity Cessna 172 for free. The fact of the matter is that Bagolu’s 172 isn’t high fidelity. At least not to that of other Cessna 172s available for other sims. MSFS 2024 is in a good enough state for me that if A2A or Black Square were to drop a Cessna 172 tomorrow I would be using it. No longer would I feel the need to use XP 12 if I wanted to fly a high fidelity Cessna 172.
That isn’t true. Just look at COWS and Black Square.
I’m able to turn on just the taxi ribbon by itself. What command are you using? I believe it’s just “Toggle taxi ribbon”. And that’s all it does for me, Xbox X. I only fly Free Flight, no Career.
There is a way to turn on and off Taxi ribbon, flight ribbon, and landing ribbon separately instead of using the all on / off ribbon and sites. I programed 2 throttle switches to turn them on and off when I needed them.
How about feather props working for a start, not in 2020 now still not working in 2024, would have thought this was a fairly basic requirement.
