A2A Aerostar 600

Yes absolutely. I would rather have 1 A2A aircraft than 20 Carenado aircraft. A2A is the pinnacle of quality over quantity.

As with the previous… yes.

It’s fantastic. A2A really do know what they are doing.

I guess the question back to you is, what do you consider ā€œsolidā€ in a GA aircraft model?

It’s a light twin that is fast and lands a little more like a jet than a light twin. Folks who like to fly by the numbers may enjoy an Aerostar more than the seat of the pants kind of pilot. Those who can stay ahead of the airplane and enjoy that kind of flying may enjoy an Aerostar more than those who don’t.

I would agree with the other posts regarding the Aerostar.
One thing I would like to add is that the Aerostar is not or only hardly flyable in icing conditions.
Typically I fly with live weather and had some trouble during the winter in central Europe.
One time I could only land on a field, not an airfield I mean a field about 2 nm before the airfield because the plane was full of ice and I could not make it anymore. This was fun!!! But you have to like stuff like this during the winter.

In case this is an issue for you, I would recommend to take the BlackSquare Baron into account.

EDIT: Or maybe the BlackSquare Dukes if you like it a bit ā€œfasterā€ than the Baron. With the Bundle you would get a Turbine and normal aspirated Version.

EDIT 2: In case you have a motion rig, the Aerostar has a wired kind of bump every few seconds that can become a bit annoying over a longer flight, have not figured out what is causing this issue. Any tips are welcome!

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like I’m going to go ahead and pull the trigger on it. I know there’s a learning curve, but since my sim time is limited, I want to make the most of it with a more sophisticated, well-developed GA aircraft rather than settling for the defaults. I was flying the stock Baron for a while in terms of twin prop, but the flight dynamics and realism leave a lot to be desired, not to mention the bugs.

The Aerostar 600 being relatively new is actually a plus in my eyes from what I can tell, the developer is pretty responsive and pushes updates regularly to address the issues that matter.

I and others here flew it from early access through the post launch updates, both of which were frequent. You are buying into a relatively complete version, so we may not see any updates until after SU5 releases, if the Aerostar will need to be updated for SU5. Welcome aboard, hope you enjoy the view and the speed. Good flying!

Does anyone know the difference between these to blower fans?

Is the lower specifically for Defrost and the upper two-speed for standard ventilation?

Very good decision. You will have a ton of fun with the Aerostar.

Just one comment if maybe someone else is reading this.
Please do not compare the stock Baron with the BlackSquare Baron. There is a huge difference between the two versions. This is almost an insult towards the BlackSquare Baron  :joy:

I think the BLWR is a high speed fan to clear foggy windows along with ā€˜defrost’.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it’s the same one you have in the Comanche. It’s a small bump that feels like you are rolling over the seam between concrete slabs.

Yes I am glad I am not the only one. Do you know the reason?

The hitches are caused by something else in the simulator interfering with a thread the accusim is running on. Most likely it’s some addon you guys have running that periodically loads or changes something. For me, it was the littlenavmap EFB client doing it.

I always thought it was intentional. I don’t think you hear it when on grass.

I think there’s some Radio Interference going on here. They mean a bump in the air. And yeah it happens when the Mainthread hitches and the Accusim physics has a momentary loss of data. I had it in the past in the Comanche but it’s OK now for me.

I get a regular brief stutter if I have Navigraph’s moving map (plane location) turned on in the EFB, maybe the same underlying cause.

Ah, that one. Yes, I know what you mean now. The entire plane jumps up, and down. Again, the only other plane that does that is the A2A Comanche. A glitch in the physics simulation IIRC.

This aircraft also has an annoying feature where it won’t respond to my normal trim wheel inputs. I have trim wheels on my Virpil Mongoose that I use for aileron and rudder trims, but they don’t work. I have to assign buttons that I can hold down to get trim inputs to work.

I also have this, as do a lot of other people. A2A say it’s a sim stutter, but it behaves differently (specifically, more violently) than other sim stutters for me.

That one gets me every time. It’s like I jam forward on the stick and just as quickly release it.

As much as I want to, this glitch is what keeps from buying this plane, I own the Comanche - rarely use it because of these annoying bumps. Fortunately we have other developers like Black Square with Baron, Bonanza, Dukes and so on not much worse than the A2A’s and no bumps.
