Same here. Wind sound is way too loud in my opinion.
Is it still too loud if you turn on soundproofing?
Re : Sound
The Comanche is a charming old lady known to be noisy. Thin fuselage… This is not a modern aircraft.
The A2A bird has a soundproofing option and a headset simulation to mitigate the nuisance. They work nicely.
Be aware that noise can also come from an open window and the cabin ventilation left open. The latter can significantly augment the noise if not taken care of.
IMO there has been some drift in the essence of the conversation around sound. Can only speak for myself but IMO it’s not that the wind sounds are too loud. I know wind is the very prominent sound in small aircraft.
It’s that, in relation to the wind, the engine is quieter since this update (with headphones off — and slightly with soundproofing off). I’m not going back to an older version to verify but I spent enough hours in it before to feel I’m correct.
That’s exactly the point. The wind is too loud in relation to the engine. In a GA aircraft, of course, you hear the wind, and the older the aircraft, the louder the background noise.
But in all the GA airplanes I’ve flown in, the engine sound has always overridden all the other noises. And not the other way around.
That’s certainly not a show stopper, but it just doesn’t quite fit for me.
I agree. I have no doubt that the engine sound has been decreased with the last update.
Yesterday I had a learning experience. Only had a couple of flights with the 250 so far and yesterday I tried to fly from Gibraltar to NW Africa. HSI course pointed in the correct direction, heading dialed in to match. Looking at GNS530, I seemed to be positioned correctly, but flying slowly AWAY, even though the wind was only 4 knots. But the distance from the next waypoint kept increasing. Someone on the A2A forum has pointed out that I haven’t rotated the HSI card - it will be different if you spawn at a different airport than your last one, so the first thing is to make sure to rotate the HSI card to match the whiskey compass heading, THEN to point the course. Otherwise, everything will be off. Will be trying that tonight.
I have been flying WAY too much modern aircraft and airliners lately.
Yes, gyro drift is simulated. That caught me out once, too. I knew it was a thing, but I thought I had disabled it in the tablet, but it got re-enabled again somehow.
It just keeps blowing me away how immersive the whole experience is. For a single prop, I can’t imagine wanting to fly anything else right now. I think the only one that can displace it would be any of their Cessnas (172, 182) or the V-tail Bonanza. Those were my favourite A2A planes in P3D. But AccuSim is much more immersive in MSFS - the walkaround, the lack of 2D popup boxes to do things like maintenance, etc.
First few flights, I had to catch up and made the same mistake, despite having read it in the manual. Now it’s one of the first things I do in the cockpit routine.
Recently I have strayed away from the Comanche (wanted to try the C162) However the experience has been a little bit dissapointing. I think, If you want a casual flight all the other planes will do the job but if you want to feel like you really are going on a proper GA flight, the Comanche is head and shoulders above the rest for sheer immersion. Delighted A2A customer.
I had a blast revisiting some strips, and airports I had been to many times with other planes.
I love the altiports in Europe, so spent a lot of time at places like Courchevel, Bugalaga, and Lalpe Dhuez (LFHU).
I had some great, centre line landings on all three of these on my first visits. It just seemed easier somehow.
They’ve set a very high bar. I’m not expecting all other developers to meet this, but the argument of “sim limitations” rings a little hollow at times, more so now they have done what I think Asobo said they would not support, regarding an external flight model.
For fear of being criticised here, I must point out that before the Comanche, the sim and it’s planes where excellent products that provided great levels of immersion. I spent 750 hours of flight time in them and would never want to criticise the devs who put thousands of hours into these great products.
The A2A Comanche is a step up and I am loving it a lot.
Is there any way we can get a toggle for the sticky instruments? When I move the gamepad over the instruments they “stick” to the instruments and panels and it’s ANNOYING to say the least. It actually looks like frame drops when trying to head look. Combined with the white dot it just kills me.
Things like this should be very user bias with toggles.
Just a little note to clarify that the engine sounds haven’t been reduced with the latest update, or the previous one for that matter. However, the cockpit sound environment in the Comanche is a very dynamic one, and the multiple vents (the Comanche has a lot of vents) will each contribute to this mix of sounds in their own way. Probably the quietest way to get fresh air into the cockpit is to open the side vents and then point the nozzles downward.
Fitting soundproofing via the ‘airframe’ tab of the ‘maintenance’ page of the tablet will significantly reduce the level of the slipstream wind noise in the cabin. However, during cruise flight and especially during a power off descent in the real thing, the wind noise is a very large part of the experience.
With a combination of headphones, soundproofing and cunning use of the vents, you should be able to reduce it greatly though, just leaving the burble of that Lyco O-540. ![]()

Personally I think the wind sound is absolutely spot on, and very user definable based on the techniques you provided. I wouldn’t go changing the sound based on feedback in this forum, instead rely on what Scott knows best (real world experience in a Comanche). If the forum was transported back in time to Italy in the 1500s, all staring at the beautiful Michelangelo frescos on the ceiling of the Sistine chapel…I suspect some here would complain that they need to be on a vertical wall instead because looking at them causes too much neck pain ![]()
I’ve been there. Definitely wasn’t PBR textures. Lame!
Thanks for the confirmation.
The main thing for me is that the wind and engine sounds are realistic and so if you are happy with them then as far as I am concerned all is good ![]()
Apart from one thing that has bothered me from the start. When the gear is lowered (on approach) the wind / turbulence sound is a really obvious loop, repeating over the space of about 2 seconds.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this aircraft. This is the only thing that bothers me, and it is not a huge thing, as I am sure developers are aware of it. ![]()
