I didn’t have to do aerobatics to make that happen. I just do my normal clumsy flying.
Then I started looking in the tablet under maintenance to tighten the visor bolts.
Navigraph just added an official profile for the Comanche on SimBrief!
The Beaver is actually quite good for the price.
The Beaver is great but it’s MilViz. They don’t do bad.
Also the A320 but that’s iniBuilds and these are both part of the sim, not addons like the Famous Flyers etc.
Finally did my first flight today with the new update after a complete reinstall of MSFS due to PC reset (it was my decision to not backup MSFS, i wanted to start slate clean).
What a beauty. I like the improvements to pitch stability the most i think, especially after AP Altitude hold. It doesn’t nag like it used to before.
The whole experience feels even more “complete” than ever before.
This aircraft “put to sleep” some of my all time favorites in the sim ever since its release and it’s still going strong now more than ever. And that includes everything, from airliners to GA to bush planes.
Is it even possible that propeller, crankshaft and flaps got damaged all at once during my final to the runway due to the wake turbulence of the liner that was taking off in ahead of me (vatsim)?? If so, and if somebody did experience the same, I seriously love this aircraft and msfs as never before!! Anyway I was able to glide gently to the runway with the engine out… amazing.
Depends on your spacing, but if he was taking off, unless you or he were doing a touch and go, his jetwash shouldn’t have affected you until you were already on the runway. From what I’ve read in the A2A forums it’s more likely invisible terrain got you.
I don’t think wake turbulence would cause damage to the prop and crank. Flaps maybe, but even that is pretty unlikely, especially if your airspeed is well below the top of the white arc.
Exactly that happened to me today… but I was already in the flare so I touched down. Didn’t have any idea why the propeller was suddenly destroyed.
After checking tablet… flaps damaged on both sides (Orange). Propeller and crankshaft were completely broken (Red).
I was hearing weird banging noises during the flight but could not identify what was causing it. Not sure if it was the flaps… I wasn’t about to move them in cruise. ( I really jumped the first time the bang happened… and pretty much every time after as well!)
I did NOT check the tablet for damage during flight as that wouldn’t be realistic.
AFAIK, nothing happened during the flight that should have caused this… never even got in the yellow arc.
I do appreciate issues coming up… keeps one alert!
EDIT: Invisible terrain could explain it as I was in the flare. Wasn’t aware of this issue.
EDIT2: Perhaps the banging noises during cruise were from wing flexing due to turbulence? Scott did mention flex noises in one of his videos. It was just quite a bit louder then I would expect flex noises to be.
Yes but it happened when I was still quite high above the runway so I’d exclude invisible terrain, and even if it was so it would have damaged the landing gear too… Whereas only directly exposed surfaces were affected such as propeller’s blades - and consequently the crank - and extended flaps. Could it be? The big Boeing was right in front of me climbing at full thrust…
Landing gear damage is currently not modelled. According to A2A’s Scott Gentile the Comanche’s landing gear is very sturdy.
Damaged props and crankshafts midflight due to invisible terrain bugs, even at quite a high altitude, have been reported. A2A have already implemented safeguards to prevent it from happening in the most recent version, so make sure you have the latest version 1.2 installed. If it’s still happening to you it’s best to report the how and where in the A2A support forums:
https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=151&sid=0dbc97d2a9c9d71cc4253bc517226e4c
I think the devs said the landing gear doesn’t take impact damage (yet?) Somewhere on the a2a forums. That could be the reason.
Gotta love some of the little things that have been modelled on this plane. Set up a flight from Cooma in the snowy mountains NSW to Canberra. Left her parked and went to make a cup of coffee. When I came back the windscreen was fogged up lol. Awesome!
yeah it took me a while to figure out why my window not clear ![]()
What’s even cooler is If you open the door it will clear the fog on your window!
I dont’ think I’ll ever be content flying another plane in this sim!
I fully agree. Since I bought the A2A Comanche on day 1, I did not touch any other plane at all in the sim.
Almost the same. Mostly flying the Comanche, with the odd flight in the Flysimware C414 when the weather means I should IFR; and occasionally in the WBSim C172 when there’s calmer weather.
It is interesting, isn’t it. Yesterday I flew another airplane in the sim, after having flown only the Manche for weeks. It was not a satisfying experience. The manche has ruined other airplanes because it flies so well!!
Same here, I haven’t flown anything else yet since I got the Comanche. I’m up to 32 hours in it so far.
I’m sure I will fly other things at some point, just having too much fun with this one and it keeps on being enjoyable.
I wonder how long we have to wait for another aircraft from A2A, hope it doesn’t take another 2 years.
I do not have that experience.
Probably because in other planes I have FSRealistic.
FSRealistic is a bit more generic than the effects in the Comanche but it does partially fill the gap.
The Comanche is nice but it in no way stops me from flying anything else. I mean it’s not suitable for every flight and would get boring for me only having to fly one type. Yes I know some have dedicated cockpits for only one aircraft type and some have gone all dotty over the Comanche but this sim has many great aircraft so why not fly them along with the Comanche.
