That is correct.
It’s the gauge that is labeled FUEL / AUX (not the switch). If you look really closely next to the switch, however, you will see an “L” on its left side.
The tip tanks are auxiliary tanks. Since there is only one gauge and there needed to be a way of reading two tanks, they made it switchable.
