A310 - Heading mode on takeoff, how to switch to nav mode?

Hey all -

I’m doing a departure where I fly a few headings, then ATC would vector me to the next waypoint of the SID. First time flying the A310, and I can’t figure out how to get nav mode to take - it won’t direct me to the next waypoint, even if I am on an intercept heading. I’ve cleared the discons in the FMC, and the waypoint I’m trying to fly to is at the top of the ftpn page. Any help would be appreciated. Happy friday!

Try a “Direct To” your next waypoint. The “DIR” button on the MCDU.
