Well one last suggestion as I think along with you. Do you make sure you have the ILS data in both radio’s? So the frequency on NAV 1 and 2 but also the Localizer Heading on the left and right panels?
I’m not sure if this is mandatory but in modern day airliners the NavRadio’s require it for CATII approaches so I just fire it up there anyway for scrutiny. Might just be possible that the DC6 uses 1 of them for LOC hold and the other for GS hold or whatever. Being antique as it all is.
I can’t exactly remember where it worked, but I think it was a big national airport. All the failures were at smaller airports in more remote areas, but with working ILS (the GPS method grabs it…).
Anyway, I’m hoping PMDG figures out at some point there’s a problem. I’ve seen enough people now complaining about the same thing. And although I agree you have to have the procedure right - which is complicated enough in itself - I do think something somewhere isn’t right.
This GPS method also seems to surprise some people (as in thinking that shouldn’t work).
Hahaha and I must admit myself that when flying the DC6 (for about two weeks now) I still just land manually after setting up all those approach fases and then at some point decide not to bother anymore, looking at the window and land the ■■■■ cranky thing. She’s a special plane to fly for sure.
And I’m doing longer flights now… it’s frustrating if you make a mess out of landing because this stuff doesn’t work. Nice flight, everything went well, then you want to land in style… anyway… I have my GPS method. Works all the time.
Pretty much it. Your aircraft, your sim, and you are the PiC.
Fly the way you want to and what works for you.
Any landing you can ‘walk away from’ sim-wise, is a good ‘un!
This too is something I’m hoping for. I really enjoy VNAV in the WT-CJ4, when I don’t mess it up with my ALT settings. So a good vertical descent profile in an airliner is a must for little old me.
Here’s hoping!!
That’s completely not true though and you know it, what have they done to improve the graphics since release?
All the sim updates have been around optimization and improvement of the underlying systems.
There are shortcomings across a lot of the core systems but they are progressing well in fixing these, the big push on turboprop logic etc was very welcome, even if it still needs some adjustments.
They just have a lot of things to juggle and unfortunately the flight plan system is lower on their list, though with WT on board we should be seeing some good progress on this.
Unless you haven’t noticed they’ve been working on a rather large milestone which is the Xbox release. While this may mean nothing to us, its a huge undertaking for the studio.
Also I love how developing an sdk on top of the sim is seen as an easy task.
Have some patience and understanding. Asobo have certainly proved their commitment to the sim in my eyes.
Yep, also tried that. Same story basically. It worked at one airport and failed on the next.
But see my previous post. I’m really not sure if that’s the solution, but it worked. Can’t exclude I did something else differently though. But hey… progress…
The only way I resolved my CTD issue was to completely uninstall MSFS and reinstall. After that no CTDs.
I hope this is the solution for you. I’m not sure why your autopilot would only work on NAV2… But if you get more failures you might want to try a complete reinstall.
Could work, but sounds a bit drastic. I still have my GPS method that never failed. And I see other people complaining about this at PMDG. I’ll wait a bit and see if I can get it to work this way now everywhere, or if PMDG comes up with a fix in upcoming releases. I’m pretty sure they will investigate these complaints. Or maybe they’ll have an explanation (apparently parts of the autopilot are Asobo), why it seems so flaky.
Im not sure if youve been replied to yet. But I believe on FSElites comments he stated it will not be an A380. I may be wrong, but I believe it WONT be a 737-400 or an A380.
