Does anyone know what the message “TERR STBY” means in the ECAM and has a solution to the problem? Unfortunately, I’ve had this happen a lot lately and while the message is active, the plane starts to oscillate a lot. At some point the message simply disappears again and the plane recovers.
Very disturbing. Google provides some information, but no solution.
TERR STBY is displayed on the ECAM when current GPS position is not accurate enough to support terrain warnings on ND. When this happens, posibly your IRS is not correctly aligned. Switch it off and on and align it back, or hit the TERR button on the overhead GPWS panel and look for white lights.
The fenix properly simulates the GPS system and the satellites orbiting the planet rather than just setting the GPS location from the sim and pretending there is a GPS system. This means that if the GPS accuracy should be low (which it can be IRL) then it is simulated.
Where this goes wrong is they are missing some of the current satellites and so the GPS signal drops out more than it should. I expect that will be fixed in an update.
Will we get a more realistic callout simulation? In the real A320 the aircraft yells “RETARD” at least twice, often three times, when landing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Fenix yell it more than once.
I’ve suddenly got the TERR STBY message, never seen it before! Strange it would just suddenly start.
Why do you want our Fenix calls you “retard”? ![]()
It’s a point that I have never noticed, I’m always more attentive to the runway and not landing hard than to the “retard” alarm. I’m going to pay more attention in the next flight to see if I only hear a single “retard” or I hear more.
Doesn’t the retard call out work differently for auto land and manual landings?
On top of that is it possible that if you are selecting idle before the retard call out you may only hear it once or not all? Not completely sure on that as never checked it.
Am certain I have heard retard x3 in my head but then I hear lots of little things in my head when flying ![]()
I’ve seen this mentioned on the discord also. I’m sure that I was called a retard twice on my last flight though. On that occasion I had a 25kt crosswind and was so focused on sticking it on the runway and decrabbing in the flare that my brain totally lost the ability to move the thrust levers to idle and I went floating down the runway. Maybe the plane is just a bit too laid back on the repeats.
It could definitely be me idling the throttles too early. I will try to leave them in the climb detent longer on my next flight. Does the real aircraft sense the position of the throttle levers though? I thought it was just an altitude/pitch thing.
Just in from Aamir, if you’re not into Discord
Block 2 delayed. Not potential release date given.
Just take your time to get it right, guys. The current Fenix is already a great aircraft, since the last updates. I’ll survive without IAE and sharklets.
Thanks for posting.
Is there a tutorial for how to open and close the windows, lol? Everytime I open the window I can’t manage to close it again. I’ve had to restart several flights because of this.
You have to click on the little pin which is in-front of the window, then drag the window to closed then click on the black handle at the back of the window to lock it closed.
Screenshots???
Finally!
I know this may be a rudder pedal hardware issue but I never experienced it before on any aircraft as well as the fenix until recent weeks- this happens to me in the fenix only.
I use the Logitech rudder pedals (I know not the best) and sometimes when taxing I can see the rudder pedals in the cockpit kinda flickering or glitching like it’s picking up an input and the plane will then go full turn to the left even though I have no rudder input. It’s not until I use the side stick twist to correct the rudder input it will stop. If I don’t and try to just correct using the pedals the plane just fights it.
Has anyone experienced this or have idea for a fix? I’d appreciate it.
Also if it helps once in the air, there is never an issue only if the ground.
I’ve also got “super value” Thrustmaster pedals.
I find if I don’t give them full left and right boot and depress brake pedals fully before starting a flight I also get similar behaviour to what you’re experiencing. I’ve been doing this “calibration” for considerable time and they now function like cheap pedals.
I’ve also got the Z axis on my flightstick disabled.
