Some new info on A319/A321:
What a great read. Makes it clear how much more complicated the 319/321 are to implement than just adding/removing some fuselage sections. Had no idea how many differences there were in the systems or fuel tanks and pumps.
How about the shortened wing root on the right side of the A319 only? Pretty cool, had no idea
Guys I know the weather radar doesn’t work (can’t work) because Asobo didn’t release an SDK for third party developers to make their weather radar work. Or something along those lines.
Have they said if this will be made available in MSFS2024 so that we can - finally - enjoy weather radars ? Or we don’t know yet ?
Info about A319/320 package Part 2, plus many beautiful screenshots:
The release date is set to the next week (not a particular day given though).
The PMDG 777 has a functional weather radar. Yes, it’s the Asobo’s subpar one, but it’s better than none at all. Fenix should implement it like PMDG did.
Phoenix simply owes it to himself. These guys don’t owe anyone anything.
I remember I’ve read Aamir on their Discord channel saying that they’ve considered this option too (to incorporate Asobo’s basic “weather radar”) but they scrapped the idea because it would still involve many hours of coding and they wanted to focus on the block 2 update at that time. And now they’re apparently busy with the A319/320, plus the sharklets for A320.
WHO ELSE IS STOKED?!
A319/A321 are coming out next week!!! WOO HOO!
Three posts up I posted a link to their official website with the same information. But yes, I’m stoked too ![]()
I just landed in Hamilton Bermuda in the middle of a hurricane. The aircraft flew completely stable. No flexing of the wings, no chop, just like a nice VFR day, instead of 60mph wind, gusting to 75. I know you are supposed to tone down the turbulence level in the sim, per Fenix but something is way, way out of wack here with the way the flight model handles turbulence.
I would suggest something not right with your setup as I get plenty of wing flex in turbulent weather, using MSFS weather and AS.
I did get wing flex while flying but it seemed a bit excessive. Then I read that Fenix suggested dialing back the turbulence in the MSFS assistance options menu to Low. This certainly solved the wing flex problem but I’m guessing it’s the reason I can fly though a hurricane and not even get light chop now. Not a good trade-off IMO.
I set turbulence to medium and have no issues in the Fenix. You get bounced around but IMO not unrealistically. Turbulence on low seems too calm and docile in any weather conditions. I know what Fenix recommends but low just doesn’t feel right
I would like some help from you.
.
I cannot configure a satisfactory maneuverability mode on the ground. I find it completely unrealistic. The aircraft gains speed quickly even when applying 22 to 24% of N1. On the other hand, keeping the aircraft in a straight line in a simple taxi at a speed of between 10 and 20 knots is a bit complicated. Can you help me with any tips?
.
I use the Thrustmaster TCA sidestick.
That’s entirely realistic. The A320 family is known for picking up speed on idle thrust during taxi. In fact, with the A319 there’s even a special taxiing method required just to prevent the brakes from overheating before you even get to the runway (allow the aircraft to accelerate to 30kt, brake to 10kt, repeat).
Is there a strong wind by any chance? It might just be weathervaning. That said, I do find maintaining precise movents while taxiing much more difficult in the Fenix than the FBW or other airliners.
In fact ,my A320 Encyclopedia doesn’t make this specific to the A319. It suggests this technique applies to the whole family.
Am I supposed to have the ignition switch on during take-offs and landings? If so, when are they activated / turned off during each phase?
