Not sure what was going on my first attempt, but I got back on tonight and had zero issues. I guess something had got into a bad state that was cleared after reboot/sim restart, something.
Actually, I like the cockpit interaction a lot better now than in SU4– previously the pointing would often go to infinity right through the cockpit rather than stopping on each each surface like it seems to now– helps make it feel more real IMO.
“The original version exhibits unrealistically low drag in the lower atmosphere, making it difficult to properly configure the aircraft for landing.”
Tbh this is exactly how I feel and what I saw didn’t surprise me. Low drag has been mentioned countless times on the discord server, but every time it was pushed back…
I don’t monitor Discord, so thanks for the info.
I’m also wondering whether FENIX community might end up releasing a fix earlier than the FENIX developers themselves. Either way, it’s good that they’re aware of the issue - that’s a positive sign and suggests improvement is coming.
Based on this, the community has to do it, as Aamir n+1 time said:
”I cannot help people that want to adjust drag to fit VNAV descent, unfortunately. That is an extraordinarily backward way of adjusting things. But I’ve tried explaining all this to the creator of said videos. They choose to carry on so I have said good luck and enjoy!”
Here’s a blog, where they explained their deceleration
LOL Yeah, that video flooded the forum and bet it became annoying.
Later he carried on:
”The performance data that the pathing uses to draw descent angles etc can be a sporty, i.e it draws pathing a bit too steep, leading to people needing to use speedbrakes. There are also a couple of smaller logic issues around deceleration but nothing it seems anyone has noticed or is concerned about, mostly people concerned about the performance side of things. Problem is the majority of the complexity around vnav is both in the logic, but also in ensuring the aircraft has a decent path around this logic.”
Also, a video will be released in the future to show the latest developments
Thanks for sharing this.
If there are any interesting updates or developments in the future, I’d really appreciate it if you could drop them here in the thread.
