A320 - Altitude and speed bug?

I select the altitude and speed and he takes so long to get it…whats wrong? i engage everything and he takes so long…

Depending on the values you often can’t have both at the same time.

For example: as climbing makes you slower and descending makes you faster, the computer will likely try to reach a certain speed before attempting to climb/descend.

To keep you in the air, the computer will often override some of your settings.

Do you use auto-throttle / Autopilot?

Yap auto pilot and auto throttle

You could try and use the preset speeds for the flight phases. If I’m not wrong speed will be around 180 kts IAS for the initial climb, then speed up to 250 before climbing further. Beyond 10k feet it will try to reach 320 kts IAS before climbing further. It will likely climb at least “a little” (like 200-500 ft. / min) but this will often result in an ATC message asking to expedite your climb. You can cicumvent this by setting speed to manual 250 kts and increment the speed settings in very small steps.
After all it doesn’t really matter since your cruise speed will be around 270 kts IAS at the high altitudes anyway.

Make sure to set your thrust lever correctly if you aren’t doing so already:

TOGA or FLX on the runway until you’ve reached around 180/190 knots shortly after liftoff. There should be a message in the upper left corner of the PFD indicating “CL LVR”. This is usually the point where you set the lever to CL and prepare to retract the flaps (unless e. g. weather conditions might require flaps to stay extended).

Oh, just in case: while setting values with the several knobs in the FCU, make sure to click the “arrow up” section for “managed” and “arrow down” for manual.
