Hello all, my difficulty is this… I’m using an Xbox with MSFS 2020 loaded, I am trying to learn the free A320 V2. all seems quite straight forward, but I’m really stick on being able to switch between the Managed and Selected modes on the autopilot. As its an Xbox I can’t revert to legacy like PC users can. A have also tried to use the controller - highlighting the knob (locking on) and using the X and A buttons to make the change - didn’t work. I also can’t seem to find the ‘Action’ in the list of functions so I could maybe assign a key combination to that action. Any insight or help from the community gratefully received
I’ve never had an issue. You push the button in to enable managed mode (giving control to the plane) or pull to take control. I don’t recall there being a keybind available.
Just note, moving from selected to managed doesn’t always work unless you have the MCDU setup correctly - the plane needs to know what to do for you.
Thanks for that, I will check all the methods I’ve tried so far, but this time having already made sure the MCDU is completely configures for the whole trip. So far the autopilot appears in Selected mode and no matter which method I try I cannot get to see ‘Managed’ mode (row of dots) to display. If you’re saying this is due to missing attributes in the MCDU that would be a relief as it’s an easy fix. I am still puzzled about why I can’t find the function of toggling between Selected / Managed in the list of ‘Actions’ when I was trying to create my own Key bind. Anyway if the problem turns out to be the MCDU not populated correctly I won’t need my own Key bind.
I’m assuming you don’t have a mouse. That would make things easy.
Yes I have a mouse connected, but nothing I have tried with the mouse has worked. If I was using a PC I understand that I could switch to ‘Legacy’ in settings and that would bring up a feature where the mouse pointer changes into an UP and down arrow , bit no legacy setting on the Xbox. Have you thought of something else I could try using the mouse? Just by way of an update, I entered a complete simple flight plan into the MCDU and found I was able to change between Managed and Selected for Heading and Speed but I could not get Managed to show for altitude, this was on the A320 neo, I will see if I get the same result on the A320 V2
Stick with the V2, the original is lacking quite a bit. I’ll see if I can check my mouse settings today. IIRC, there is a mouse mapping you can delete which makes life a lot easier without disrupting other things.
The problem also exists on PC using a mouse with the regular non-legacy controls. You hold left click on the knob - it tells you to middle click to “pull” - and it does nothing.
It’s not that the OP doesn’t realise he has to push or pull - it’s that he can’t push or pull because the controls to do it don’t do it.
I understand the problem. I’ve flown the 320 V2 on Xbox, PC and NVIDIA GeForce Now and not had a problem. . It’s just a matter of sorting out the mouse bindings. Not easy or obvious but it can be resolved.
