Hi
Newcomer to simming so forgive the question.
In this tutorial series (1-8) an Airbus 320 pilot flies the default plane from A to B. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbPU7ccsTZw
As I understand it ASOBO have indicated that no aircraft in the sim will be study level at what % will ASOB stop the development on the default model i.e. once its 85% comparable to a study level aircraft or what % to a study level?
I don’t think there will be any improvements to the default A320, other than the various bugs needing fixed. Now FlyBywire ( a group that have taken on the developement of the stock A320 from asobo) and are improving the aircraft all the time, hopefully to study level given time. This has made the aircraft more enjoyable to fly as more systems come on board.
If interested just search for Flybywire A320NX

Yes, what TheDaMnEd147 stated above. Right now adding any more feature (except for basic, core, automation-related bug fixes/improvements) to the A320 Neo would be a huge waste of time for Asobo/Microsoft imo, as the FlyByWire team is way ahead of them in terms of features, visual enhancements, sounds and functionality. What Microsoft/Asobo should be doing right now is to focus on the core sim, eliminate all the bugs, and add features that all the third party devs (payware or freeware) can take advantage of through the SDK.
For example, Mr Jorg, head of MSFS, said he will add more features to the G1000 in future. This way, Carenado can take advantage of that in their future planes and develop aircraft quickly simply by adding the default (but enhanced) g1000 to their planes. If on the other hand the g1000 remains incomplete, then it will take a lot of time for Carenado and other third party devs to develop.
Study level aircraft are tough, and takes years to develop. It took PMDG four and half years to release their first study level aircraft for Prepar3D after the latter’s first version was released back in 2010. This is why core sim’s bug fixes, improvements and a solid, user-friendly and well-documented SDK are extremely important right now than anything else for MSFS at this moment.

Thanks both.
I agree with your sentiments in respect of the core sim focus should be bug elimination etc I would have thought the quickest way of doing that would be to enlist the assistance of for example Airbus 320 pilots and let them report to ASOBO perhaps thats already happening by the looks from the tutorial video I cite above it appears the default is not that far away. Core sim needs to be baselined against an agreement with working pilots that the plane can fly from A to B using known real world procedure etc. This will be essential for XBOX’ers like myself who need a realistic base model porting over from the PC
I’m pretty sure Asobo is aware of the issues and deficiencies of the basic A320N so before getting anywhere close to where specific pilot’s knowledge would be required they surely could do a lot based on documents.
I also think there is some kind of cooperation with Airbus already, but don’t know how far.
Anyway, it’s not the lack of knowledge of the issues and missing knobs or how they should work, it’s just the time they will probably not spend themselves to implement all of that.
Fixing bugs especially in the flight planning (which could even benefit all aircraft) is far more important than focusing on the windshield wiper knob on the A320N.
they havent taken it over, their just providing their own version using the stock one provided.
Sorry for the wrong choice of words… wow
thats no problem thanks for your apology.
I think you will find i stated Taken on the development lol
