I have had similar situations but it seems to ocurr when I punch the approach and STAR into the MCDU. Often I don’t get arrival info until late and have already passed the transition point when the information is put into the MCDU, once it goes off script it is next to impossible to recover AP so I end up flying the approach manual, it can be annoying (but it exercises my skills too)
