A320 or ATR

So far the airliners Ive learned are the BAE-146 and the 737-800. Of course, I am always learning but I can fly both from gate to gate with no assists. So now I am working out what to learn next and it’s a toss up between the a320 and the ATR (I own both). I was thinking of the 747 or the 787 but I thought it might be a good idea to step out of Boeing after spending so long learning the 737. Any advice out there?

Well it depends a bit on your usage really. If you like short flights and island hopping and want a similar experience to the Bae 146 - the ATR is a better option. If you like the classic jetliner experience - the A320 is a better option. About learning - for the a320 you can find a TON of info online about functionality and quirks and the fenix a320 is among the best planes available for the sim, period. To learn it best I would suggest - Mike Ray book on the a320 to learn about the systems and the video tutorial made by airline2sim channel on the fslabs a320 (as a simple but quite deep demo of standard operationg procedures). The ATR is quite fun to fly but has many minor bugs and incosistencies. If you choose the ATR I recommend getting a Navigraph navdata as it reads Sim navdata incorrectly sometimes. Tutorial-wise I’d recommend Magnar Nordal video tutorials on his you tube channel. Personally I fly the a320 more often than ATR.

I am learning the ATR right now. I have also used the B737-700. I have the 800 but I can’t fly it. The darn thing bobs up and down constantly. OP did you have this issue with the 800 and how did you solve it? I keep finding threads about people with the issue but no fixes. The PMDG forum was no help. Anyway I would try the ATR if I were you.

What part of the flight does it bob up and down?

Ok cool. Yeh I think that’s good advice. I need to refresh on the 146 as well. And all of that is nothing to say maintaining my chops on the GA……and my DCS jets!!! So many planes, so little time!!

Thanks for this super detailed response. I think I’m gonna got the Fenix. I’ll check out the texts you reccomended.

Always at or above FL260. No matter the weight/balance. I have also tried with different weather.
