A320 Skipping Both Climb and Cruise Phase

I hope I’m posting in the right section, apologies if not!

I’m having some trouble with the flight plan - it’s all set up, i set up the Airbus A320 as I’ve always done however upon takeoff and after engaging autopilot, it’s skipping both climb and cruise phase and jumping straight into approach phase meaning the auto throttle does not go above 208 knots as the autopilot thinks I’m in on the approach even though I’m not even 4000ft from takeoff…

Is this a glitch or is there something I’m doing wrong? I’ve never had this issue before and I do all my steps the exact same way

Never saw something like that. Have you checked if the FPL looks correct before departure?

Thanks for the responses! So I’ve done a couple more flights and i seem to have located the issue but still unsure why it’s causing it - upon takeoff on my latest, I thought it had resolved itself as it went into climb phase after takeoff but autopilot had vertical speed at around 6000 ft/s which is quite a lot - when I engage selected mode for vertical speed, it then jumped into approach mode… is this something I should leave alone until my descent?

If the MFDU is set up correctly, remember the autopilot Flight Control Unit must be as well.
It should show a series of dashes under speed, then a dot, dashes under heading, then a dot, your selected altitude, then a dot.
The dashes indicate the MCDU is controlling the value.
The dots indicate a function has been selected for AP control.
Engage autothrottle prior to T/O.
Advance throttles to TOGA setting.
A/P can be turned on shortly after positive rate of climb established, at acceleration altitude, reduce the
throttles to the climb detent.
You do not need to touch any other buttons, aside from entering new altitudes and re-engaging the climb as per ATC, basically until you are on approach.

This link is to the documentation for the FBW A320, although more advanced than the default aircraft, a lot of the info is still applicable and covers these subjects.

Good luck!

Is it with the default a320 that comes with the game or with the fenix one or fbw a320?
