Well I fly A320 exclusively in IFR. Which means, all my navigation and approach to runway directions are managed by the flight computers.
My flight plan is directly set to a runway. And even if the ATC assigns me to a runway as I approach. I enter them into the MCDU, and the Nav flight path with take me to be in-line with the runway. I just keep my eye on my Navigation Display for the directions.
Then I also tuned into the ILS frequency, press the APPR button, and the aircraft will lock onto the glideslope signal that will automatically bring the aircraft down to the runway. I just disengage AP at the 100 feet callout for my manual flare.
But that’s just me.
